It's a good game. I can't fault it in that regard. It's fun, the portals are extremely fun to use and it has overall some of the nicest and most responsive gun play in any game I've played.

Despite that I can't in good consciousness recommend it in the current state. The playerbase is so low you're guaranteed multiple bots in every single game. Varies massively by game. Sometimes they're so good you're unable to compete, firing at you ahead of times from positions where they can't have possibly known you were there, such as being way out of range of where you'd show up on the minimap or hear footsteps and yet pre-firing the corner despite that. Sometimes it's the exact opposite - I've had multiple games, specifically modes like Contamination, where you can be stood completely still in an open area and despite that the bots will just run around in circles and not even try to find you, or they'll just run in a straight like directly towards you. Every game is one or the other with no in-between and when it's at least half the players in every single game, no amount of well-designed mechanics can save it.

Last played this in 2016. Had hours and hours of fun with friends - game wasn't too special but playing with friends kept my interest. Wanted to replay so got a few friends to reinstall but the servers are down so that chapter is over I guess. RIP. o7
