Incredibly worth the money. One part Oregon Trail, one part Rimworld, one part Battle Brothers. The simple graphics hide a strong gameplay loop and bunch of systems that encourage exploration and experimentation. There's systems for questing, factions, trade networks, hunting and foraging, cooking, base building and base defense, and probably a bunch more I haven't run into yet. You'll get attached to the characters working your rig, leveling them up over time, and slowly build up your knowledge and resources. The world map is big enough to make you really consider if the long hauls are worth it, and the dangers are dangerous enough to make you feel like you're never completely prepared. "Cozy" gameplay in its own way, a game you can play with a podcast on or while listening to music (though the soundtrack is great).

With the 1.4 patch this game has really turned around. It's a solid, fast-paced RTS that's a huge blast in 1v1s and team games (2v2, 3v3, 4v4). Still consistently being updated and balanced, but it's amazing to see how far it's come and how much more it'll be developed on.

Don't skip this because some reviews aren't happy it's not a direct lift of CoH2. This is its own game with its own identity and it's a lot of fun if you're looking for that classic RTS competitive gameplay.

EDIT April 2024: As of patch 1.6, this game is more than worth it for RTS fans and WWII gamers. A lot of major bugs have been smoothed out, new content and maps across the board, and has an active MP scene that plays very competitively across solo and team game modes.

as a current Tarkov player, this is a great getaway game that provides the same highs and lows without as much tediousness. Still has as steep but rewarding learn curve, good fights, great environments and immersion, and scratches the looting itch. Extraction game mode isn't for everyone, but it's a nice change of pace from other FPSes.
