This is an early review as I've had the item less than 24hrs. I got the controller for a total of ~$15 during a sale.

While there is much to like about the steam controller there is also quite a bit absent.

I've tried it out in fallout 4 where it preformed quite well however when I tried more advanced use I've hit a few road blocks.

There is no introductory video or simple valve game (tutorial) that displays the fantastic "3D" haptic feedback and/or teaches me how to use the device and the setting it uses. As Valve is a primarily a software company this being missing absolutely astounds me.

I've been working on a controller configuration that I've been trying to set up for a game that currently doesn't have one, the configuration doesn't seem to want to activate during the game in question, I know I'm missing something but the paperwork included with the controller (The only real guide being a set of (nicely printed) pictures telling me how to plug in a USB, was of little help)

I plan on updating this review in a few months.

So actually not all that great story wise, what does happen is well thought out but no really player choice. However it is a linear storyline, no side mission (unless grabbing special items counts), quests, or even the ability to talk.
Image quality and in-game tech are amazing. It also has a target rich environment. So if you don’t care for freedom of play, like killing aliens, playing with explosives, hunting down ammo, and sometime killing potential allies (that you can’t win over because you can’t talk). Then this is the game for you. Nice HUD, weapons, and explosions.
