Game that has a lot of potential and I'm looking forward to what is to come. The reason for my refund is, that the campaign at the moment feels very grindy.
It would be way more fun if the sectors you capture actually give you some income and you can choose a bit more freely where to go next. The Levelrestriction on locations feels a bit like in a free to play game.

If this changes in the future, I would be very happy to come back and give this game another try.

Firstly, I love the idea of the game. I thought this would some kind of historical city skylines where you can create beautiful cities which evole naturally over time.

Sadly for me it does not reach the mark at the moment and I feel like they would have to change their base game too much to reach a state which would be close to what I thought this game would be. If the devs prove me wrong, I would happily come back, because again, I really love the idea.

So I played the game for about an hour before I refunded it. For me there is simply no natural evolution of the city. You place a city centre in the first age and houses start to grow around it, which is fine. But once you reach the next age, you place another city centre and houses start instead building around this one. In my case, I had to build the centres quite far away from eachother, which means the parts of the city we not connected. And this just felt a little off. At this point I had two seperate cites, and one of them stopped growing, because of the change of ages and a second city just grow in the middle of nowhere. If we look on how cities really evolved in the past, this is of course not even close to reality.

Another problem are the buildings you place, you can place production buildings which create an area around them which new settlers dislike and other buildings like service buildings which create an area where settlers want to live. I kind of get why people want to live close to service buildings, but in my opinion they should also want to live close to production buildings, even more as they are their jobs. This again is a point which is quite unrealistic. Cities should evolve in a way that farm settlements become small villages with craftmens which will become bigger trading hubs over time. With the state of the game, this is impossible at the moment.

I could go on with the realisim, but I guess you get the point. Sorry for the bad english btw.

Buy once CK4 is out and you can get the full bundle. The DLCs are way too overpriced and too shallow for the price. You can feel that paradox is not loving their games anymore.

So I played this game quite a lot and I had quite some fun playing it with a friend. At some point though some update made everything worse and we stopped.

Today I saw that the devs celebrate the 10th year of this project on steam. It's a little ridiculous to celebrate this when you consider that this game is still in an alpha state. After 10 years!

It just keeps crashing.

Update 2024:
Performance on this game is still complete garbage. Mod creators doing a better job with working on the performance than the actual devs.
