Mid-round/normal Execute fundamentals (for any map): wthin an execute, there are a few roles, #1 entry: goes in 1st for information !YOU DON’T HAVE TO RUN IN AND TRY TO TRADE THE ENTRY AS FAST AS POSSIBLE ON EVERY EXEC (but, mid-round site hits, you probably do), WAITING ~ 0.5 SECONDS AFTER THEY RUN IN/DIE CAN MAINTAIN GOOD SPACING, ATTRACT ATTENTION TO THE ENTRY (ESPECIALLY FOR SPLITS), TO BAIT OUT A LITTLE XTRA UTIL OR CATCH CT’S ON A SMALL TIMING WINDOW WITH THEIR GAURD DOWN!
#2: 2ndary entry (trades the entry): Refraggers are gonna be those star Aimers on set execs, in mid-rounds could be anyone. #3 3rd-in/bomb carrier: Your 3rd in isn’t looking for trade frags or anything like that, that’s the entry duo’s role, 3rd-in’s job is to use the created space to get onto site and plant the bomb but, if things do get out of hand, the usual 3rd in is probably slowing down and looking for favorable fights to get back site ctrl. #4 lurk: while hard lurking isn’t really a thing anymore, a few individuals like blameF still carry the torch. Lurking can be watching flanks and eliminating the possibility of them during retakes, but most importantly, lurkers are responsible for CUTTING OFF ROTATIONS. Lurkers are setup before an execute, on some maps easier to setup than others, examples: CoL’s blameF will sometimes get boosted into window on CoL’s defaults on mirage to cut off CT rotates and CoL can regroup and flash out apps and secure themselves a round.
on inferno, Stan has been late lurking a lot lately. During the end-round when his team are pressuring B or A short/Apps, he looks for a timing to get a kill on the arch rotater while they’re going to either help B or Lane to catch them off guard and if it’s a B hit then force the CT’s to fight you and slow their rotations.
Finally, #5 AWP: As I see it, the role of an AWPer on an execute can vary, sometimes they’ll go second in and just post on 1 angle as support then, when bomb goes down, they’ll become the lurker. Other times they’ll start out as the lurk AWPers almost never play after plans on the site.
