Bought this game heavily discounted during the winter sale, as it came pre-packaged with the other remakes. Compared to RE7/Village this is absolute garbage and feels more like a teaser than an actual game itself. You go around a mansion collecting items, zombies are unkillable despite dozens of shots to the head. Your biggest enemy in the game isn't the deadly virus but more the limited number of inventory slots which force you to un-necessarily backtrack a lot and add to the extremely short playtime. After a few hours of slowly shuffling through the same hallway back and forth collecting parts I got bored and refunded it.

A pretty terrible "hen-tie" game with few redeeming qualities. Not only is the animation of extremely poor quality (like a mobile game ported to PC), but it is riddled with countless translation errors and pinged my antivirus a bunch of times after start-up. Add in the fact that this game is extreeemely short for the price-point, and there's no reason to get it over many of the other ones out there.

Won't bother with a super long review because the game definitely doesn't deserve that. After their "success" with duel links where they made a heavily p2w game that turned off newer players quite fast, master duel continues on from that. Their ranked mode tends to be decided by who has the most OP hand and can set-up their board quicker (maxx-c/ash blossom being near mandatory or you lose on the spot), and there isn't really any skill expression or variety.

If you're looking for a game where you can spend thousands of dollars and hate your life because of it, konami did a bang up job with this.

Early Access Review
For $11 this game is extreeeemely short (unlocked everything within an hour). Needs way more content to justify the price, especially for having such a narrow niche in the genre.

Usually I'd do lengthy reviews for these kinds of games, but there isn't really a point when the game itself is so extremely short and lacking content. While it may have voice acting and be more polished than other ones of the genre, it doesn't expand it and feels more like a rip-off of the likes of Zetria than anything. The high $26 price-point is the final nail in the coffin as well, as you'd expect more for your money especially for a game that had so many delays it spawned its own half-life-3-esque meme.

Would write a long review about this game, but quite frankly it sucks. Content is pretty low and the p2w is through the roof (within the first 10 seconds I was immediately greeted to "special offers, just for me!"). Compared to similar games it's poorly optimized with many tedious things like upgrades requiring you to physically go through each one instead of just an "upgrade all" feature. Oh, and there's no way to port it between PC and phone, making p2w almost mandatory if you want to keep up with everything.

Normally I'd do long reviews for these kinds of games, but there isn't really a point since this game is so short and feels extremely unfinished. Compared to the previous two it has way less levels, little in the means of upgrades, and is sorta just here to explain away the plot-holes. Unless you're a die-hard fan of the series and REALLLLY want to give the devs $20, it's probably best to wait until they either add more content or release a follow-up dlc.

Ah, PDM, what a weird game (tldr at end):

The Plot?

Clearly taking a page out of FNAF's playbook, you play as a landlord with a bit too much time on his hands who will do anything to gather info on his residents, and I mean ANYTHING. Very quickly things go from innocent to quite creepy. Lines are crossed, boundaries are ignored, and fantasies (at least for the protag) are fulfilled. It's a bit of an odd dynamic that caters to a specific audience but will cause most people to run in terror.

The Gameplay?

One of the big ways you improve intel gathering is through cleaning/fixing parts of the building, with 3 minigames. They're super repetitive, get boring extremely fast, and don't add anything to the game outside of gatekeeping bonuses and lengthening the playtime through grinding.

The Length

Normally I don't make a big deal about how long games are, but holy hell this one was quite short. In sub-4 hours with no guide at all I got all achievments and cg's. While others may struggle with a few of the things, for me the lack of content made it feel quite "demo-ey", like they'd release a full version later on.

TLDR

Ultimately I was on the fence as to whether this deserved a good/bad rating. While this does have elements of a great game and introduces things new to the genre, it falls extremely flat and quite frankly doesn't feel finished. Playing this game was a lot like eating a salad: sure it "counts" as a meal but after a few hours you're craving something more filling.

New Hen-Tie game, new review (tldr at end):

The Plot

Set in parallel universes of the "red riding hood" tale, this game explores what happens when they collapse on eachother. Unlike other games in this genre that try to reinvent everything/go outside the box, the dev went extremely tame with it. Sure there are a lot of surprises/interesting plot turns, but everything serves a purpose with very few "loose ends".

The Characters

One of the other good things about this game was how the characters interact, or more accurately "evolve" around eachother. The main protag starts as an extremely weak/stereotypical "hen-tie princess", who seems reluctant to be in her role, gain more confidence. A few of the other characters, normally cold/heartless, gain more compassion. It's stuff like this that makes the characters far more memorable than other ones, even if they follow the same tropes as other hen-tie games.

TLDR

Ultimately there's very little not to like about this game. The story's really good, there's a ton of content, and there's a lot of nudity if you prefer stuff like that. For the first game I've played from this dev, it has me interested to see if the rest of their games are good or if this is just them hitting lightning in a bottle.

Ah Viewfinder, the spiritual sequel to my favorite game of all time Superliminal and arguably the single-biggest disappointment (tldr at end):

The Gameplay

For me, the biggest grievance I had with this game was how linear/boring the levels were. While with other similar puzzle games there's hint systems or multiple solutions, viewfinder has none of that and instead insists that you constantly bash your head against the proverbial wall until you either figure it out or look it up in a guide. Each new area introduces a new concept, but doesn't really do enough to expand on things, making it feel like they're using the new elements as a distraction more than anything. "Hey, you're bored right now? Here's a shiny new camera to distract for 20mins. Wait, that isn't working? How about two cameras?"

The Plot?

One of my other big gripes was how loose/non-relevant the plot was. They could've tied in something to make the game more deep, like how people use pictures to keep their favorite moments. Instead much of the "lore" doesn't add to the experience and you get a tiny global warming thing at the end that seemingly comes out of nowhere. Overall a missed opportunity.

I wouldn't normally critique the length of a game, but in this case it is a huge detriment. For $30 CAD you get only about 30 levels/4hrs of playtime? Feels quite demo-ey.

TLDR

Overall this game was a huge disappointment and should only be bought when either updated a lot or heavily discounted. While other games like the aformentioned superliminal will use a good plot or different themes to vary the gameplay and distract from their longevity, viewfinder does none of that and makes it extremely boring. You're paying $30 for some mildly fun gameplay mechanics and zero replayability, and nothing else.
