A multi-layered cooperative tactical first person shooter. Your skill matters, but so do your choices regarding what weapons and equipment to put on your battlemech. Instead of being able to respawn, you have a durable giant stompy robot. Armor protects your internal structures (legs, arms, torsos, head) and components, and 'mechs are often able to stay in the fight with multiple destroyed sections. There are a variety of weapon systems, covering short & long range, and burst or steady damage -- with a cooldown & heat management system to keep you from firing all the weapons all the time. Battle awareness and communication play are crucial, as you work with 11 other players to encounter and destroy a roughly even opposing force of 12 rival pilots. There is a full spectrum of mech sizes (20 ton "light 'mechs" to 100 ton "assault 'mechs") that slot into a variety of roles (scout, close range brawler, mid range fire support, indirect long range fire support, long range sniper) that are needed in every battle, and rewarded for doing the job well.

This game can be frustrating at time, and seems to have a fairly steep learning curve, but rewards strategic (loadout, map & mech knowledge) and tactical (positioning, targeting, communication) skills and keeps me coming back for the challenge and variety.
