What am I even playing? What is this game? Its like someone came up with a great game and story, then flew to an island in the middle of the pacific ocean bringing nothing but a pencil, a post-it note and a bottle of rubbing alcohol. Once on the island, drank the whole bottle of rubbing alcohol, while in poisoned fugue state, got violent diahrea and used half of the post it note to wipe. Then used the remaining half of the post-it note to write down the great game idea and send it out into the ocean. The size of post-it note only allowing 10 words or less for the whole thing.

What I am playing is someone's fever dream, full of nonsense, yet set in a beautiful, nay... gorgeous world. The atmosphere is chef's kiss. But the gameplay. What is this? What am I doing? Its nothing but a collection of the worst game mechanics put together in order to accomplish gaming's worst type of gameplay. Fetch-quests.

The world is completely devoid of anything, its like someone ran speed-rock for 24 hours, looked at it, and called it "great!".

The ambiance in Death Stranding is great. But this game is BAD! Like... really bad! Mad Mikelsen, and Guelteramo, what are they doing here? They stand out like sore thumb, taking away from any and all suspension of disbelief.

Aside from a few bandit camps this game has zero NPCs, zero. All characters are in cut scenes, not in game. All cities are empty. Why are you connecting empty cities? I dunno. Because strands?

Why is everything named so weirdly? Did AI name them? Die-Hardman? Why? Bridges? Fragile? What sort of fever dream is this? Why does president's right hand man have a skull face? Why are there Bridge Babies? Why are we eating little maggots? Why is the damn interface in this game so atrocious? When I make a delivery its hitting the A button 100 times past an arcady stats screen.

Is this game trying to be serious? Or is this game a lighthearted arcade score romp? Because the skeletor over there and beach babies dont make it feel serious at all.

Ill finish this thing... but oh boy I wish Kojima would have just made a stealth action game about cold war (heck make it about current cold war 2.0), called it Getal Mear and be done with it.

What we got here instead is a colossal waste of talent, pointless years off of Kojima's life... and everyone's waste of time. If you spent money on this. sure... play it... otherwise... dont come anywhere close. This is not a game. This is large language model making a game. Completely not understanding what makes games fun taking the terrain out of Goat Simulator, fetch quests out of world's worst games and about 2% of the characters out of Metal Gear... not giving them any interesting background or anything interesting to do.

When someone told me that this 'game' is a "walking simulator" I could not in my wildest fever dreams imagine what they meant.... because it cant just be a game about walking from A to B with absolutely zero other substance right? in an empty world... right?.... let me tell you... yes it can.

Played this in 2005, was ok for the time, but with so many broken systems, bad PC UI, and overall bland uneventful world this is not a great game. Id recommend going to Skyrim or even going back to Morrowind over this. But if you are curious, jump in and run through the main quest line. There are some cool quests, but the world as a whole has very little to offer.

This game is what the first one should have been. A good refinement!

Excellent game to play solo or with friends. Combat feels satisfying, reminds me of the countless hours I spent with Modern Warfare (in 2007) in a good way.

Great game, runs well at 1440p on a 10 year old i7 920 OCd to 4.0 Ghz and a GTX 1070. I get pretty steady 60FPS with everything maxed out except Volumetric is set to Low.

There are occasional network issues, inability to join quests and other online parties.

Ive been playing the franchise since PSP days and so far this is one of the best, if not the best game in the series. A lot of quality of life changes (infinite whetstones, instant gathering in most cases, extensive tutorial, ive only trapped with shock traps so far but they seem to be instant? and many other good changes).

Loading times are nearly instantaneous (1 to 3 seconds no matter where I am loading to).

Pros:
- Lots of quality of life improvements make the game very accessible
- Monster Hunting never looked this good
- Runs well on older hardware (OCd 2008 i7), this may be strictly due to abundance of threads
- Fun solo or in a party

Cons:
- Network issues (hopefully fixed with a patch soon)
- Lack of 21:9 support, not important for me but some folks are unhappy (hopefully added with a patch later on)
- $30 worth of emotes/cosmetic DLC out of the gate on the store page. A bit disheartening to a Deluxe version owner.
- Some people have reported game save corruption (I wrote a script to auto backup saves you can find here - tinyurl.c o m/mhw-backup
- Anti-Cheat is not present so people can change their HR at will. This has been the case for as long as MH has been around, so just block them and kick or leave the quest.

Overall highly recommend this game to both MH veterans and new players. If you are reading this around launch, take a look on the forum and/or subreddit to see if the above cons have been addressed with patches.

Eve has been around for so long. Its hard to believe it still has a steady player base. This game requires a huge time commitment, but if you get into it you will be in so deep it will be hard to get out. Id recommend playing if you can invest a significant amount of time up front. Props to CCP for keeping the game alive. I do wish they kind of started from scratch with EVE 2. It would be a lot easier to get into for new people.
