I started out playing the original mod for Arma 2 which at the time was a fun an exciting mod at the time. When dayz SA came out I bought in the first week expecting it to watch the mod I loved turn into its own survival horror game. After year 3 things haven't progressed much. A few new weapons and clothes, updated maps and buildings but it's just to little to late. The first few months were amazing and captured the feel of the mod but today aside from a few tweaks it's the same. The player base is also suffering as the game has no real sense of survival outside of pvp combat which led the game to devolve into a battle royale style game with other players instead of teaming up with strangers to survive against the horde and the elements. Hackers are also an ongoing issue ingame from being frozen in place to having your gear straight up stolen from someone halfway across the map. At the current time I cannot recommend the game, I'd say wait another year or so to see where it's at before purchasing.

TLDR: Premise is good but slow update and other players currently make the game unfun.
