One of the greatest RTS games of old and with a killer soundtrack to boot. A solid choice to pick up during any sale!

Better yet if you ever tire of the original game there are even some big fan made conversion mods to try.

Working to peak EGS matchmaking standards, can't launch the game and we end up spending the entire day in something else due to always on requirements not letting us do anything.

Update 25th of September: Still not recommending the game due to frequent server issues for many players including matchmaking errors and disconnects. When the servers do work there is a long waiting period to matchmake even if you are making a solo private instance. This could have been resolved by an offline mode or peer to peer connections similar to the original setup of the previous games.

Update 29th of September: Even still massive issues with stability, frequent disconnects when restarting a heist, no options for parties such as promoting a leader manually etc. Rejoining can cause infinite loading loops.

Disregarding the matchmaking disaster after backporting the previous game Payday 2 to the same EGS matchmaking back in June to more or less identical issues giving us a decent warning here are my overall thoughts:

Positives:
- Gameplay feels fairly solid and i love a ton of the additions particularly to the complexity of stealth in heists. This includes the increased viability of an unmasked portion of a heist or an unmasked member being able to contribute in different interesting ways.
- The focus on speed penalties rather than detection rate for changes in armor or weapons is another welcome change.
- Decent variety of heists on release 8 is similar to the original amount of Payday 2 although this has far more variety in how to tackle the heists.

Negatives:
- NO MUSIC OPTION FOR HEISTS this was arguably the biggest appeal of loud heists in Payday 2, jamming along to the killer soundtrack. I'm sure it'll come but this is the real crime being committed in Payday 3 if anything.
- No offline option means you are limited to server stability.
- An overall lowered complexity in some areas such as the difference in weapon attachments being much more obscured. This also applies to the lowered amount of Ace-able skills.

The perfect game to scratch that strategic relaxation itch you may have, easy to jump in and play a round or ten even if you are pressed on time. Well, depending on how well you do of course hopefully it's closer to one great run than ten unfortunate deaths.

While likely not for those that do not enjoy a fair bit of reading this text based adventure is a great and free option if you'd like to play in occasional bursts with the option to binge for an hour and a half once per week where your actions allowance is instantly refilled and then significantly sped up during the hour and a half in question.

If you'd like to play more than these shorter bursts daily as I have so far it would cost you however though the subscription may be a decent choice if that is your wish as an entire year translates to about $20-$25 with some credits left over to use for action refills or other specific options in your journey.

Can highly recommend it overall but do want to let people know that there are situations where your character may seem to be stuck in a loop of doing the same few actions, in which case I'd suggest checking a few of the locations available to you and to always try things that you are interested in even if the chances are low, your character will either learn something from it or it may lead you down an interesting side path.

Unfortunately my story is the same as many of the others you'll see here, when it originally came out as an alpha in 2013 I was all over it and played it effectively nonstop for months on end. It showed amazing potential had plenty of enjoyable content already and the dev was explaining about a ton of features he was looking into with the reasonable advice of being patient as it is only a 2 person team. However in the end nearly none of the additional features ended up being implemented as only a few months after the initial launch the updates stopped.

Fast forward to the beta release and things seemed to be just as people wanted or at least they did until you get to a different area of the map and realize all your items are now useless. Your equipment only works on an area by area basis and what's worse is that your weapons and gear which can be tedious or grindy to get with some challenging encounters are also rendered useless in the next area as even your legendary staff is now little more than an regular wooden stick.

Overall it ends up being an endless and fairly discouraging cycle of regaining the gear you already unlocked rather than exploring the world and admittedly interesting environments in new ways. As such I can't really recommend it unless a lot of these things change for the better though considering the dev has once again gone silent I doubt it is likely any time soon.

TL;DR Bright potential in the alpha severely dimmed when going into beta with underwhelming/unpopular changes.

I found Rimworld to be an amazing game as well as an endless well of great mods.

The game certainly lends itself to long hours fine tuning that newest mod set for a new playthrough whether it be medieval a race to space or some good old fashioned cannibalistic furniture making.

A great game with endless hours of enjoyment in my case as I've played countless hours on both Xbox 360 and PC with my brother and many of my friends as well.

Borderlands 2 has always been my go to when it comes to some enjoyable grinding for loot and rolling a new character still feels enjoyable after several years of coming back for more.

This is truly a labor of love by DE, I keep losing track of the hours I play of this game as I just enjoy it so much.
Everything from the versatility and freedom in a lot of the weapon choices and the sheer fairness of the monetization makes this one of the without a doubt strongest Free To Play titles out there.
Not to mention the main story being considered a bit holy in the community with most people making sure to avoid spoiling plot points for newer players.

Long story short, this game has had both me and several of my friends enthralled for months and hopefully more to come!

I put off picking up this game until it's release and I am very very happy I did as once I finally bought it I unleashed over 110 hours of careful planning and trying over and over again to get better after my first playthrough on my 2nd albeit failed, 3rd failed again and 4th current Honour Mode run without exploits.

Given the chance I would go back and play it over a few more times as I love the carefully crafted world that Larian Studios has given us yet again and cross my fingers for an in my case very anticipated sequel if such a thing is in the works.

If you love tactical combat and lovingly crafted classical rpg games I cannot recommend this game enough.

EDIT: Just some grammatical errors.
