GTBAE.

This game can be described simply as Great Taste But Awful Execution.

It would be a stretch to pass this off as a beta version let alone calling it 1.0
Bugs everywhere, incomplete or abandoned features, constant glitches in core features, plenty of spelling and grammar mistakes even like they haven't had anyone bother to proof read during production, there are even game interface screens which cause a measurable increase in system load because of sloppy implementation.

Its a fun game and a great concept but it reveals its self to be more and more of a mess the longer you play it.
If you're interested in playing there is still fun to be had, you can read the positive reviews for those details and judge for yourself.

This game isn't objectively a bad game but if you're looking for a new strategy game it actually will be too basic for you.
Base-building is limited to simply upgrading on a single spot and the overall strategy on quite literally every level is simply to acquire resources, upgrade basic buildings, build units, click.

Once your units are deployed its at least good for a bit of battlefield entertainment but overall its very lacking and not what I'd consider mentionable in a conversation about strategy games.

My review was almost positive because I enjoyed this game for what it had to offer. Its not much but its something. It is at least fun.

Overall if you're looking for something to challenge you this is not it. Its very basic, very scripted, and just lacks any kind of element which would make a game of this genre worth your time. If you want to try it "just so you had" like I did you might be pleasantly surprised. Its at least good. If this is your first entry to any strategy games and you come from other Halo games this might be good for you. Other players, overall, honestly just don't bother.

I'll update to say at 11 hours I've also played this game to completion so its good for at least 10 hours of your time.

More like a $4.00 mobile game than a $40.00 PC game. Very basic and lacking in many features that were iconic to previous Stronghold games. Very lazy effort.

Copy pasted from my thread comment:
Will update my review if or when this changes, but not likely.

Subject: paid DLC maps when the base game is unfinished and the body of the map was already present in arma 3.

Everyone leaving bad feedback, make it count and change your review / leave a bad review. Vote that way to be listened. I have 1300 hours in DayZ, and I have supported it a lot at times when others have been quick to criticize. I have enjoyed a lot of my time in DayZ and don't regret it, but more recently the business decisions have been extremely disappointing. The simple truth is that the base game is a broken mess. The sad addition to that truth is that community modders are capable of fixing a lot of the issues purely out of interest and they successfully do so yet the main studio somehow manage to turn a blind eye. And for those saying everyone here are cheapskates and that the studio needs money: do a bit of research into the figures involved and you'll realise this is not, and can not be the case, unless they've handled their finances in an illegal manner. Bohemia have made many, many millions from DayZ already and have also got other titles they own which can easily float development. I understand the costs in game development are higher than many realise but they don't "need" this to continue development. At this point they are milking what they can and its an insult to the literal millions of people who have paid for the base game that they choose to focus on this instead of completing what is in all but name an exceptionally unfinished product. The community want the core mechanics of the game to function, thats the biggest ask of all right now and its being ignored.

Great game with very high production quality. The scenes are huge with some of the best 40k universe environments I've seen. Gameplay is entertaining and good story line. Multiplayer mode is still somewhat active years later and has an excellent custom player design feature. Would very much like to see a sequel if it were made to the same standard as this game was.

Early Access Review
One of the best spends I've ever done, the game keeps you entertained for countless hours and keeps getting even more immersive, a genuinely exciting adventure.
