A snail treads on, forever onward,
Weaving through the yard.
He casts his eyes, toward the stars,
And he dreams.
He dreams just for a moment.

Watching, as clouds fly by.
He looks to the humans, toward their schedules,
And he imagines.
He imagines about what could be.

Climbing through grapes and vines.
He looks to the dogs, towards their treats,
And he envies.
He envies that which could take play.

A snail treads on, and reaches a leaf,
He ponders his how's, and his why's.
He asks for a sign, a tale, a laugh,
And silence.
Silence answers.
