Very few games make you think _literally_ outside the box for the answers. The Secret World was one of them - tasked with hacking an in-game company's website involved firing up the company's website in your actual real web browser, and trying to phish your way in - taking the knowledge gleaned back into the game.

Without giving any spoilers, Clockwork God is that smart. It lays out immaculately constructed systems and rules of play, and just occasionally, leans on you to completely disregard them. It's some of the smartest game writing there is.
