It starts out as such a cute, inviting visual novel, then it starts to turn dark and throws you for curveballs like no other.

An Age of War is usually a fitting adage for any Warhammer 40,000 game, although Ages of War might be slightly more appropriate.

I remember playing Dawn of War when it initially released and someone had a copy at a lan. That Intro. We all saw it and we were sold right there and then. This awesome new strategy game where you could zoom right into the action and see swords clash, blood spill and units being torn limb from limb.

Over a decade later the game has clearly aged a bit in terms of graphics but even still they hold up reasonably well.

The gameplay is a unique take on resource control and one that could have been utilised in a professional competitive environment in my opinion.

All in all it's a great game that has stood the test of time. Multiplayer still has its charm and the single player campaign ensures some game time. The customisability of your units in game as well as your whole army's paint system adds an extra element to a strategy game that should have seen more action for the game it brings.
