As much as I liked Hades, the sequel grabbed me even harder. It's my GotY 2025.

Early Access Review
I removed my cautiously optimistic initial review since the game literally won't launch on my PC anymore. "Known issue" per the devs but oof. I hope EA sorts things out, I want a good skate game in the world, but signs aren't pointing to that outcome.

The best way to convert $3 into a ~4 hour dopamine drip.

Maybe the free to play GOAT?

All of the microtransactions are purely cosmetic with one exception -- extra stash tabs. But that's really smart...you start with enough stash space to play through all of the story content and beyond but if you get into the game, you'll find buying extra stash space to be a huge quality of life improvement.

If you just want to play through the story content, you'll find that it has (much) more to offer than e.g. Diablo3, with 10 story acts and a bunch of viable (to a point) builds/playstyles. But at 7.5 years of development and 12 expansions, PoE has added so much content and has such complex systems in place (especially the currency/crafting systems) that it can be difficult to get into the end game without reading lots of wiki pages and watching lots of youtube videos. And there's no good way to respec a character, so experimenting with builds is limited and bad decisions early in a character's life can hamstring their ability to do end game content.

But if you're willing to put in the time to learn how all of the moving parts work and plan out your build in advance to be capable of end game content, I don't think there's a better ARPG availalbe, F2P or not.

This is the video game equivalent of popping bubble wrap. Nice to click around on while watching something on another screen, listening to podcasts, etc. Plus, you can't beat the price.

Excellent 2-button arcade brawler. Easy to learn but has a high skill ceiling.

The other reviews nail it. If you took CivV or Civ6, made the combat a let better, added faction-specific military units across the board, ripped out all of the diplomacy/religion/culture, and customized each faction's technology trees, then did a great job of porting it to the WH40k setting you'd have this game.

It's a solid 8/10 and if it gets more factions and some kind of custom scenarios, it could hit 8.5-9/10
