Early Access Review
If you've played They are Billions you know what to expect, with some fresh ideas to the formula like your capital ship.
Aside from some needed polish, it's already a solid game.

If you like the genre, this is for you :)

Picked this up from a Humble Bundle, was surprised by how good it is.

This game has what TIS-100 was missing for me. Lots of variation.

Try the demo to get a feel for the game. Its a pretty casual rts/rpg where you advance through a city building game.

For me the major flaw of the game is the horrible level design. For example: There is a Map in which you have to destroy a strong enemy before he reaches his goal. While this is happening you get attacked by a group of 3 mobs. As soon as the last of the 3 mobs dies, a new group spawns. So after you realized that you just keep one of them alive.

Another example would be a map where you have to rescue a unit, then take it to the exit. You cant exit while in fight and you constantly are attacked by a mob of a few units _after_ you rescue the guy (and as soon as the last one dies... a new group spawns). So basically you first clear the level and then rescue him and run. That is simply bad level design and really should have been caught in testing.

If you can live with that, you will probably enjoy the game.

Give the game a try, it is a pearl among indie games. If you like what you see in the trailers, the game plays really well.

Only thing I wish for is a longer campaign (took around 5hrs to get through).

Just want to add that the Devs are updating and expanding the game at a nice rate. So far one of the best early access games I bought on steam.

I guess it comes down mostly on if you like the gameplay or not.

Personally I enjoy it quite a lot, so I can't complain there. Probably haven't played enough yet to rate how fast it gets stale (played both betas and a few hours since launch, prolly ~10hrs in the betas) but still enjoy playing it. You're gonna shoot bad guys, a lot of bad guys, repeatedly. Same as in almost every game. The mission types are pretty straight forward and mostly have you run from A->B while activating things, defending things and shooting bosses.

Stabilitywise the only issue I had so far was one or two server-disconnects and a few lags (on launch-day, really don't think that's bad). While friends had issues like their shots not being registered or being disconnected more often.

Looking back on recent launches of bigger titles I'd say it went pretty fine for us (can't say anything about other regions).

My biggest issue is probably the inventory/interface, which is as usual clearly an issue coming from developing the game for console and pc. They made a UI that can be navigated with a controller but is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ to use with a mouse/kb. Same issue you see with games like FA4/Skyrim/etc.

Do not ask yourself what DEMOCRACY can do for you. Ask yourself what you can do for DEMOCRACY.

Great Top down shooter with tons of unlocks, heavy focus on Teamplay and some of the greatest sound/visual design in the Genre.

The game basically gives you randomized maps with all kinds of objectives you need to complete. There are 12 difficulty settings, where up to around difficulty 7 you can still accomplish them solo (which is good for most basic unlocks).

Features include:

Drilling for Oil on foreign soil.
Spreading Freedom one bullet at a time.
Getting killed by your own stupidity or allies (and occasionally an enemy).
Fabulous capes that flutter in the wind when spinning.
