Great release, phenomenal class design, hooking gameplay loop, will surprise you. I'm so glad to see such success with this early access title. Lot of love went into this title, and I love it for it

I don't really like sci-fi, or space. I don't really care about dwarves anywhere else. Yet, one of the best games I've had the pleasure to encounter

I really liked Shadows of New York, specially after it's predecessor - Coteries. To me this is a big improvement.
I didn't love Coteries, in the end it felt like a sour experience which I had alot of gripes with, but it left me enough curiosity to try out it's "sequel", this game, Shadows of New York, because behind all the weird ways in which Coteries was engineered, I saw that this team could do alot better, and I'm glad it did. Ironically, it was the negative reviews on this entry claiming it was different from Coteries that piqued my interest.

I'm happy to say that alot of the gripes I had with Coteries simply don't exist in this entry. The decision for having only one protagonist played much better in it's favour in my opinion. The story was just much more focused, the protagonist actually had a personality, somewhat dictated by you, and as a result it felt much more fleshed out. This was just overall a big improvement to me. I see that some people didn't like the protagonist, or more noteworthy, her pessimism or misery-like outlook on alot of things, fair, if you don't like the protagonist you are stuck with her, but the story benefits from alot more focus and development. Personaly I liked her alot, since I like more pessimistic outlooks anyway.

Overall, I didn't love Coteries, but I actually kind of loved this one. I hope they stick with their single protagonist formula in the future, or vastly improve the design of multiple protagonist choices in the future.
The ending was quite satisfying, even if brutal and ruthless, somewhat bittersweet, but perfectly fitting the clan and the protagonist.

I first played this game on Xbox PC game pass. I liked it so much and saw so much passion and quality in every aspect of the game that I came and bought it on Steam after just playing some initial cases, as I wanted to have it permanently on my collection and support the devs further for such great quality.

As others have pointed out, it is a niche game for sure. If you like the Elizabethian / Shakespearean period it is a gem to have, however, I'd still recommend if you fancy history as a whole or just want to have a great quality humorous narrative experience. It is a narrative game more than anything in fact, I'd describe it as a choose your own adventure type and let the amazing voice acting and incredible humorous singing take the lead. It is mostly a guessing game, although in some cases it rewards some history knowledge, which was really nice! Some characters are indeed real historical figures and it was great to see that even their models were tailored from their real portraits made from the time.

All the stories were pleasing, most of them humorous and amazingly well voice acted. The introductions to the characters everytime they visit you are for me the best part of the game though, as you get a new poem fully singed by incredible singers every single time, and most of those can crack you up.

I commend the developers for such passion and great work they put in this gem. Hopefuly it wont be the last of them. All in all, if you like the period it is a gem. Verily so, indeed.

Been waiting for this game for more than a year, following it ocasionally obsesively. I must say not only it delivers to my expectations but exceeds it, specially with game mode variety.

I love it, having a blast congratulations dev team, this is a victory

Absolute joy fantastic game for anyone who enjoys RPGs and / or Historical settings.

Easy recommendation. Just note that the game doesn't hold you hand much at all and you need to learn pretty much everything, if this is a positive or a negative it is up to you.
