did you like overwatch? no? well what if i told you that they changed things like an annoying over the shoulder camera? janky movement tech? sweatier players? or what if we told you there was a terrible ult economy? if you like the sound of that, then you have bad taste. this game sucks.

game is fun when it works right, downright infuriating the rest of the time. game cant decide where you're supposed to be when you're trying to jump on things which is bad when most of the game exploration is based around platforming. the game will lag out, has terrible indicators of whats going on, and the only real difficulty in the dungeons comes from boss's one hit kill moves. matchmade parties tend to just barrel through the entire thing without caring at all about what is getting aggro'd, or they start fights or continue on without the whole party, which means that if the party does manage to kill the boss without you, you dont get any of the rewards from running the whole dungeon.
pvp is its whole own can of worms. its basically just "who gets the CC train to trigger?" since abilities have a CHANCE of working as intended before you even factor in resistances, and unless you're playing as a hard tank, you're not surviving long enough to escape the cc train. most of the mmo is based around the very few coop dungeons, and the very confusing world dungeons. the only reason i can fathom to join a guild is to get access to guild bosses. otherwise, its just another buff. this game feels like its just a cash grab disguised as an MMO. go play guildwars 2. even as a f2p player, its gonna be far more content and far more satisfying pvp.

Its hard to recommend because it has so many flaws and its kind of a niche title to begin with. but if you're into survival games, and dont really care about precision gaming, it might be up your ally.

keep in mind that i only ever played pve, so pvp servers might be a different story, but the lag that seems to exist almost perpetually would probably kill most people's fun with pvp. the combat is straight up just boring numbers games or janky boss fights that either can be cheesed, or have completely unavoidable attacks, but you just spam heals when they're not on cooldown to make up for the janky stuff the bosses will hit you with. the dodge roll does nothing for your survivability. there's almost no point in having a team to play with. bosses are either frustrating because of janky hitboxes or unavoidable attacks, or they're frustratingly easy because you can break their AI or just dance around a piece of cover and never get touched. basically solo'd all the way through the season 4 bosses,
and thats all if you can even get the game to function normally for more than half an hour. crashes, disconnects, and bouts of insane lag out of nowhere all the time... it dc'd on me 3 times in a single silo mission, with 2 of the 3 dc's killing me because i was just standing around a whole room of baddies. it feels like a game to come back to after a year and then it might be more ship-shape. roads are jagged and bumpy for no reason, the gps will sometimes run you on wild goose chases nowhere near what you're trying to get to, and the starting motorcycle will lean so hard that you grind the sides into the road and it takes health of your bike, shadows regularly bug out, animations on a lot of the monsters just dont line up with how they're moving, the deviants have a completely aesthetic to literally everything else you see in the game, and any game with a blatant "unstuck me" button is guaranteed to piss people off just with the way it runs sometimes. i've almost uninstalled the game several times already with all the technical issues and janky things that i've dealt with.
the story is also pretty meh. only a couple characters that i wanted to know more about, the general story feels like a bunch of things are being shoe-horned in just to add context for whats happening in game, and the overall plot is kind of just there. it doesnt really happen around you or anything. all the bad stuff already happened and you're just showing up to clean up everything. never given a real reason as to why the deviations want to mess with the real world, not ever given a bbeg to try and thwart, and generally just never given a reason to try at all other than that you can and you have the special backpack.
player interactions are basically non-existent in pve other than the couple pvp events that spark up. i think it'd be cool to have something like a more robust vehicle modding system for player races, or fishing contests, or something of the sort. otherwise its literally just killing eachother for optional resources or waving when you pass by. the biggest kill to the player community is probably the limited character count per server.

what it does right
base building is a touch janky, but has enough depth to make you think. setting up an indoor farm was kind of cool, and i can tell that with logic chips and such, that the power systems in the game can get pretty complicated.
the specialization perks make your character far more unique than just the memetics choices and can give you a good reason to sell specific products to other players by getting a perk that either lets you make something cheaper, or by getting a perk that gives you a unique recipe that you can sell like an item that reduces the carry weight of minerals. the vending machine idea is cool, but i think the game should have special towns specifically made to be like, player shopping centers. one town in the desert was so crowded with player vehicles with their vending machines on top that it was almost impossible to ride out of the town. would have to walk almost completely out of the safety zone before you could call a vehicle to drive out. however, i dont like that you cant seem to trade guns or armor without manipulating loopholes in the pvp mechanics of the game.
the deviant system helps both in combat and base stuff, but the lack of total deviants you're allowed to have working on your base at once kinda kills that.
weapon perks can add some cool ways to play without feeling like its turning into another lootershooter like borderlands trying to make so many nonviable weapons rather than trying to make most weapons viable like once human does.

so all in all, cant really recommend the game, but i think if given the time to keep working on it, it could be a really fun and interesting game through and through.

do you like getting thrown into a game with people who are either brain dead, or laser accurate? do you like spending 15 minutes in one game without seeing a single person just to get picked off in a couple of seconds without any warning? do you like building armor just to die a fraction of a second later? then you might like this game. movement is kinda fun, but you have to use a bunch of janky methods just to use the movement tech that good players use, like having a second forward hotkey set to your scroll wheel, or a variable sensitivity. only a small percentage of people who play this game will actually be good at it, and virtually everyone else are varying degrees of absolute garbage. i miss titanfall2...

I feel like its super important to make sure its known that very little of my time in the game was spend playing the vanilla version of the game. all but maybe a hand full of hours was spent playing on modded or private servers, meaning that i've been playing this game with mods and on servers away from the typical player base.
with that being said, this game is LARGELY based on your own ability to make things fun. whether thats obtaining new tech and weapons, or taming new large beasts to do the jobs for you. this game is absolutely HUGE at almost 500 GB when fully installed, so i severely doubt that this game is going to be lacking content for most, if not overwhelming. also important to know that there's an almost endless wealth of info online regarding almost every little detail of the game. stuff telling you how you'll wanna build stuff, how you'll wanna tame stuff.
just shy of a thousand hours in the game, and i'm still playing it at least 8 hours a week. one of the most played games in my steam library and i still have more playing to do on ARK. strongly recommended, and largely played by many. never be afraid to say you dont know a part of the game, and you'll be able to find people to teach you or tell you what you need to do for certain things. have fun!

First playing the game feels really grind-y, but its really just easing you in. this game has a surprising amount of depth, especially once you start playing with other frames. game has a unique aesthetic, good effects, and incredible mobility. once you master the movement system, you can zip through missions with jojo's star platinum levels of precision and speed, combined with the mid air slowmow-aim makes you feel like you're "the one" in a grungy early 2000's action film. Tons of customization in your builds and cosmetics, get into a guild, and things go a whole 'nother level. pvp is fun too, but largely unnecessary unless you're fast-tracking specific materials for crafting. you may eventually wanna throw like 20-30 bucks at the game for some other things like special cosmetics, a weapon, or even a whole frame, but you can get by just fine in every aspect of the game without ever spending a cent. Guild play also offers guild halls, trades, jointed efforts in researching new weapon and frame blueprints, unlocking a couple of mission types, and if you're a hardcore decorator type, you can spend countless hours simply beautifying your guild's hall with all sorts of tasteful furniture and statues and such.
strongly recommend you find a good pair of weapons you like, with a good setup for mods, and level those up rather than focusing too much on your frame, unless you're a frame with big devastating abilities like the Excalibur or Nova frames.
Good luck on your hunts, Tenno. you're gonna need it.

this is an amazing game if you're really into skate sim games like SKATE. however, its hard to say i'd recommend it, just because there are a lot of extra steps to making it actually play WELL. several mods are damn near necessary to enjoy, and those mods require a lot of time tweaking them to your preference. there's no campaign, no high score mode, or anything else like that. its literally just a sandbox skateboarding sim.still amazing, but lacks any typical game content. if you can get into the flow, and if you really have a passion for realistic skateboarding, this is the game for you. if you're expecting a tony hawk game, or even a skate3 experience, you're gonna be SOL.

i know there's not many of them, but literally the best berserk game out there. some of the cinematic bits look a little weird or cheap, but when you're in levels slicing through thousands of enemies, hearing the *KLANG KLANG KLANG* and watching the blood spray, you really get this visceral feel thats almost a zone, or a flow; like playing tetris. every once in a while there are cool boss fights that change it up, but a couple of them are really picky about beating them in specific ways, while others you can just spam launch combo loops.
i played the hell out of this game, and i think anyone interested in a good hacknslash, or anyone interested in berserk but dont want to watch the shows/movies, or read the manga, this isnt a bad intro. a little restrained from the original content, but i dont think any fan of the series would think it was tasteless sensorship for a video game adaptation

a fun game to play a few rounds with friends, but this game's netcode sucks so much ass that once you get passed like round 5, things start to break. people die and you get killed for seemingly no reason, people get stuck in terrain, guns will get stuck too high in the air to grab, and this especially sucks when you're doing the bossrounds. strongly recommend that if you do play this, you limit your map selection, weapons, and to-win count lower than 10. the game tends to spawn in weapons that throw snakes, and they're basically living traps. the problem is, like 5 different guns shoot more snakes. so i strongly recommend almost completely getting rid of the snake weapons all together.

edit:just wait for spiderheck to launch. infinitely better game.

Early Access Review
I enjoy the hell out of the music, and its a great game for "zone players", like tetris. the 3d visuals look good enough, but the colors all make it pretty clear what's what at a quick glance, minus maybe the bots on the right side. the search light doesnt pop too well. this game is really good, but its terrible at informing you about the basics, and maybe its just me, but the info in black on a dark lit neon game scheme makes it incredibly difficult to track any information while the game is playing. i get that this is an arcade throwback, but some things (like obscure controls and information) should stay back there. i feel like the information about materials, upgrade progress, and missile ammo should be on the center line between the screens since you're constantly switching focus between the screens anyway, and maybe add a little more color coordination between the sides correlating inforamtion.
saw someone described it "easy to learn, hard to master" and i feel like thats just false. took me half an hour of attempts and google searches to figure out how to stop the "every four minutes" fire wall thing. (tap right trigger 3 times quickly while in the cube in the middle, btw.) while already frustrating, this was just exacerbated by the video that plays trying to tell you how to stop the wall without actually telling you how to stop the damn wall. "fire your bfp in the blah-blah core..." with no direction how to actually fire one, let alone find one. the game play itself is really awesome, but the lack of direct information is going to kill its chances at finding any new crowd, other than just 30+ year-olds (like myself).
you could probably just make a 3 or 4 page informational like old game manuals where they point at the thing on the screen and tell you what the info means, and a generic controller image pointing at the buttons and what they do, then the third page be a break down of objects in the game and what they generally do.
