Introduction and Conclusion
Trine 2 : Complete Story is a sequel of Trine : Enchanted Edition in which the heroes once again delved in a fantasy adventure. The game offers a much more refined gameplay with new added skills for each character, and a perplexing creative puzzles.

The visuals are very impressive and much more detailed than the previous game. Puzzles are much more complex. Each chapter offers various enemies and challenge especially the expansion. Absolutely recommending "Trine 2 : Complete Story" at 100% of the price!

Difficulty
There's a huge improvement in the game's difficulty since Trine 1. This game offers a much more challenging outlook to each chapter especially if you play on Hard HC mode. During the first playthrough (less experience to get some skills) solving the platformer puzzles would certainly leave you thinking for a solution. There are new enemies introduced which are tankier and faster and the boss fights are implemented excellently.

Hardcore mode is.. well.. very hardcore. Enemies can one shot you and environmental damages is way more than it should be, in which you have tread lightly in each puzzles and proceed with a more strategic approach for each checkpoint as there will be a lot of enemies (sometimes more than 10).

Gameplay
  • Mouse and Keyboard - Much better than the previous game, the control is smooth and quick.

  • Objective - Linear. You start at "point A" and you finish the level by going to "point B" but along the way you'll have to battle some enemies, solve some puzzles and get some collectibles (optional).

  • Skill Tree - New skills are added, they implemented the new skill system in a way that you only get a single point for all characters when you level up. By that, you'll have to sacrifice character's skill for the other depending on your playstyle as you will not have all skills unlocked until the very end of the game, given that you have gotten all collectibles.

  • Itemization - Items are replaced with collectible paintings and poems. Trine 1 has this feature but they scraped this one entirely for this game, I really liked this feature but it is absent on Trine 2. The game developers probably removed it to make the game much more challenging.

  • Battle Mechanics - They even upgraded the "unrestricted ways" of battling against your enemies. They even gave Amadeus a skill that could deal with enemies. There's plenty of stuffs in the environment that could be used to deal with enemies regardless of the character you're using.

  • Platform Puzzles - Puzzles are really creative and well-thought, way more complex than the first game.

  • Game Physics - The game involves hugely on the physics aspect of it especially when solving puzzles. Sometimes, the physics engine breaks causing some puzzle skips but it should pose no problem in the gameplay as the physics malfuntion isn't occuring regularly. Nonetheless, the game's physics is working well 95% of the time.

  • Multiplayer - I can't say anything for the multiplayer part because I played this game entirely on single player. Will edit this part if I manage to play it on multiplayer.

Characters
Was once strangers bounded by the artifact are now friends. Trine 2 explores more of the chemistry of its characters after the events of Trine 1, it now gives us new perspective after they've been named as the heroes. The voice acting is outstanding, you can feel the character's emotions in their own voice and the narrator's mystical way of conveying the story. The dialogues are very well-written and full of emotions; tragic, cheerful, comical.

Chapters or Storyline
There are a total of 20 chapters in the game, 13 from the original storyline and 7 from the Goblin Menace expansion. 100% Game completion and achievements should give you 15-30hrs of content.
  • Story - Cliche fairytale plot involving princesses and with goblin terrorizing kingdoms. Plot isn't connected from the first game so you should be able to play Trine 2 without missing that much story from the previous game.

  • Scenery - Astonishing visuals! Trine 2 brings in more artistic artworks outdoing their first game. You can take a screenshot anytime in the game and it would look good as a wallpaper, that's the beauty of the Trineverse. It captures the adventurous and mystical aspect of a fairytale environment which makes it immersive.

  • Enemies and Traps - More enemies, more traps, more challenge! As you progress throughout each chapter a new variety of enemies will start to emerge and environmental hazards will start to confronting.

Visuals and Performance
The visuals is simple yet aesthetic, captivating, enchanting, immersive and outstandingly beautiful. Performance wise the game is really smooth and is in constant fps on highest settings. I haven't crashed and never encountered any game breaking bug on my entire playthrough.

Music and Sounds
Music, spiced with its fairytale like theme, is fitting for the kind of aura each chapter tries to convey which adds a layer to the already immersive scenery the game offers. And just like the first game, Trine 2 has a clear and distinct sounds effects.

Achievements
There are 97 achievements in the game which are fun, challenging ... others frustrating. Collectible counter from the Skill Tree HUD were scraped out, nonetheless it still works the same way as the previous game. Achieving 100% should not be very hard since difficulty mode and chapters can be changed and replayed anytime as long as that specific chapter has already been completed.

Introduction and Conclusion
I remember playing Trine the first time back at 2014 and was amazed by the stunning scenery and game experience. Trine was one of the reasons why I grew a preference for adventure platformer indie genres and I have came back to replay this game again at 2020 and it's still one of the best looking games out there despite it being released on 2009.

I definitely recommend this game, if you've played the other Trine games and want to support the devs, buy it at any price you want. If you're a casual gamer looking for some games to waste time on then I'd prefer you buy it during discounts but the choice is entirely up to you, read more and find out for yourself

Difficulty
  • Game is too easy - The fights are not that challenging even on the highest difficulty (even on Hardcore). Platform puzzles are too easy not to mention it's badly designed because you can pretty much skip it by using one character. They could've made the puzzles more perplexing and nerf overpowered characters instead of using collectibles, although I'll admit some of it are cleverly placed, as a means to make the game harder and stretched out.

  • Easy Medium Hard - The game offers you 3 different difficulty options. Please don't play this one on Easy Difficulty, don't make the an easy game more easier else you wouldn't get much of the immersive scenery of this game because you would finish in probably less than 2 hours. I suggest playing this game on Hard mode, if possible with Hardcore mode turned on to get the most out of this game. Hard mode can have monsters or environmental hazards 1 or 2 shot you but it shouldn't pose as a big problem because there would be checkpoints spread throughout the level.

  • Hardcore - Play the game as how it was intended, pair it on Hard difficulty, let yourself be frustrated and experience the game at its core. Hardcore Mode offers limited resurrections and you can't save during the level, that basically means when you quit the game or die, you will to restart the level back from the start.

Gameplay
  • Mouse and Keyboard - It is working as intended, I had no problem playing on mouse and keyboard, although sometimes Amadeus' will create a floating platform instead of a box! Nevertheless, not much of a big deal.

  • Objective - You start at "point A" and you finish the level by going to "point B" but along the way you'll have to battle the undead and solve some puzzles along the way.

  • Skills - For every 50 experience you've collected you are rewarded with a skill point for each character. There are only 3 skills (level 3 max) per character and you will be able to get everything min-maxed by the end if you've collected everything. Although you have the freedom to level up what you like, this doesn't really offer much character skill customization because some skills are locked, and not to mention useless till the end, until you reach a specific chapter.

  • Items - There are secret chests hidden per chapter that contains items with stats to help you on your journey, and some items that could dial your characters skill to 11. Each character have 9 inventory slots for items. The items are not character locked which means you can shuffle the items for each characters and see what suits you best.

  • Battle Mechanics - I like how you aren't restricted of the methods on how you battle against your enemies. You can keep it interesting by using various styles of execution; environmental kills, melee attacks, range attacks, friendy-fire, jumping, dropping a huge box, and more!

  • Platform Puzzles - Yes there is a puzzle but it is poorly implemented because you can also skip it by just grappling away or conjuring objects. The idea is already there it just needs a couple of elements to restrict the player of abusing certain skills to swift through the obstacle.

  • Multiplayer - I can't say anything for the multiplayer part yet because I played this game entirely on single player. Will edit this part if I manage to play it on multiplayer.

Characters
Each characters have their own strengths and weaknesses. The voice acting is remarkable paired with comedic and witty dialouges. The three characters have an amazing chemistry with each other despite their difference in lifestyle and goals.

Chapters
There are a total of 15 chapters in the game and a bonus chapter that unlocks after beating the game that adds extra content. You should be able to complete this game in 2-4hrs in hard difficulty, without minding the achievements.
  • Story - A short fairytale cliche plot with a comical ending. Each chapter offers a paragraph of naration dedicated for the storyline. Characters would also often have historical dialogues about the chapter you're in.

  • Scenery - This one right here is the selling point. I bought this years ago with no expectations and was in complete awe for the first time playing it (even now!). Trine would really make you feel like you're inside a fairytale. Each chapter has its own unique setting and representation, the scenery gives off this enchanting tranquil ambience and mysterious nostalgic feeling inscribed in each chapter.

  • Goal - Repetitive. Start from point A, slay monsters, solve puzzles, get all collectibles (optional), reach point B.

  • Enemies - One weakness of Trine is they probably put all the budget for producing a good graphics but less on some aspects as clearly shown here. Repetitive enemies, you will see the same enemies over and over again every level and boss fights are also the same all throughout the game. I would've loved to see a variety of enemies in each chapter and a different miniboss by the end of it, which of course Trine failed to implement.

Visuals and Performance
For a game that came out at 2009, I have no words for the graphics! It has one of the best looking graphics out there in the Indie genre. Performance wise the game is really smooth and is in constant fps on highest settings. I haven't crashed and never encountered any game breaking bug on my entire playthrough.

Music and Sounds
Music is very relaxing and auspicious. It makes you escape reality and immerse yourself in the fairytale feeling of adventure and magic. Sound design is also distinctive, you'll know what is happening even with eyes closed. You can hear bones breaking, Zoya grappling, Amadeus' conjuring, and all those other stuffs in game.

Achievements
I really enjoyed the achievements, obtaining some of it are a challenge but no worries there are no absurd achievements in this game. All collectibles will be saved after finishing the level
and you can always come back for missed collectibles by replaying the specific chapter.

Introduction
SH : CP = Sherlock Holmes : Crimes and Punishments
SH : DD = Sherlock Holmes : Devil's Daughter

I'd happily give this game a balanced review about 5/10, but I rated it "No," so I'm not going to totally recommend this game at full price. Read why.

Gameplay and Difficulty
This game has taken a major downgrade from SH : CP in its gameplay. There's not much detective stuff going on and you're left clueless most of the time of what to do. Although this time they were able to bring in a "Master Sleuth (hard difficulty)", but what is the point? If you are spoon-feeded with vague details and nonsensical minigames.

Trial and Error. The amount of trial and error mini games are very outrageous and frustrating, its called Sherlock Holmes! It's supposed to make us feel like a cunning person by putting puzzle pieces together to form a solution not some random guy who did a hit or miss.

Stealth Mini Games. First of all, the sneaking content in this game is pretty simple and stretched out, I feel like they just added this section to make your playthrough longer. While there's not a lot of investigative action going on in this segment except one, they could have better implemented this section if they had more of the "Prey Tell" sneaking in the office section instead of only sneaking through some guards. If I had to stealth my way, I would just play Dishonored or something.

Quicktime Events. To be truthful I've enjoyed most of it but there's no detective expertise required for this. It's more like a test of reflex rather than a moment to showcase your intellect. It would've been better if they actually went the RDJ's Sherlock route, in which before you head on to a battle you construct the future possible outcomes based on your own deductions against your opponent's actions all within a constructed time-frame.

Character Portrait. I really liked the change for this section. Not all character portrait deductions are direct, some of it you had to choose manually by combining together other deductions to form a fact. My only problem here is that you can see the first letter and the length of the blurred text to recognize the right choice to make, they should've blurred it better or just delete it altogether.

Toby Sniffing. Well can't hate myself for playing as a dog! But honestly I'm glad they did less of this (Sorry Toby!), because if I wanted to play a dog I'd go play a dog game. This minigame is fairly straightforward, just follow the scent and you're done and earn yourself a good sleep on Sherlock's pillow! They could've made this minigame better by adding 2 or more scents in which, at some point, the scents intersect and Toby will do his own scent tracking deductions or, in other words, they should've shown why Sherlock calls him the best nose in the entire British Empire!

Characters
Why do Sherlock and Watson look even younger than SH : CP? They're expected to be around in their mid-40s or mid-50s in this game. The voice actors in this game are different from SH : CP, perhaps a budget issue or something. I don't have any problems with the new voice actors who actually did a decent job, but I prefer the SH : CP voice actor because of his cynical humorous voice.

A lot of the characters in this game are just reused old models from previous games and they're not even trying to hide that fact (I understand why they have to do this, low budget and save time) but at least they could've made them interesting.

Watson is always absent, and Lestrade too, what's the point of making a "Sherlock Holmes game" when most of the important characters don't do much in the whole game? I blame it on poor writing. Watson played a good role in SH : CP, which exemplifies both his medical and military abilities, but Watson behaves more like a doctor and less like an army in this game. Lestrade seems quite suspicious in this game as if he's hiding something, I thought it would be part of the plot later, but not at all!

Cases and Storyline
There are six cases in total that you solve, and most of the cases were just unclear, and the main storyline is unexpectedly forced into your face, at one point you solve crimes, and immediately you try to locate Kate .

Cases are confusing to solve because of the lack of hints or clues that are ambiguous, and most of the time you find yourself guessing, it's more like "Sherlock using vague clues to guess" than "Sherlock using facts for deduction". Each case is pretty short at one point I even had a "That's it?" moment, or I could perfectly summarize the whole case and the plot as "That's it?".

Visuals and Performance
The visuals is very promising and it's actually better than SH : CP, it had more details and better lighting but it lacks that mystique ambience from SH : CP.

No crashes and bugs during my playthrough. Played it on all high settings yet sometimes I find the fps fluctuating at some scenes. I highly doubt its on my end because a lot of other players experienced the same.

The controls are clunky especially when you're trying to interact. You can see Sherlock jolting up in a table sometimes or being stuck in a corner.

Music and Sounds
I'm very impressed. The noise quality is enhanced (not that it needs an improvement since it was on point already) since SH : CP; the creaking sounds, gossips, street vendors, children playing, insects, and all those randoms stuffs that could be heard in a city is audible.

The music, although I prefer the previous music from SH: CP, really suits the case and the plot in most of the scenarios. The music had this exciting and enigmatic spectacle on it, which is what this game has promised!

Achievements
All obtainable in a single playthrough, as long as you don't skip minigames and don't fail at it you will finish it 100%. No crazy achievements. Fairly easy.

Conclusion
- SH:DD failed to deliver as a "Sherlock Holmes game".
- It's would certainly work best if it is viewed as a visual novel rather than a detective game.
- If you skip all minigames you could probably finish this game in 2 hours or less.
- Gameplay is more hit-or-miss and trial-and-error and less actual detective gameplay.
- Cases are absurdly confusing with vague clues.
- The main storyline is suddenly forced the in your face.

Not recommended at full price. Get this game at or above 75% discount. Get Sherlock Holmes : Crimes and Punishments instead. I can't deduce how Frogwares f*cked up this game and not SH:CP.

Gameplay and Difficulty

Well first of all they did Sherlock right; cold, cunning, sociopath / psychopath , ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that acts like he doesn't care but he actually does! and as what Mycroft said "Behind all of his masquerade, my brother does possess a deep heart" .

There's no difficulty in the game, the cases are the difficulty. However, the cases requires logic and reasoning for you to reach the correct conclusion. The game does punish you if you mess up something by making you feel responsible for your actions. The statistics you can see at the end of the screen verily questions your actions and moral compass.

Some mini-games can be quite frustrating and puzzling because the interface isn't really helping you with it (you have the option to skip this but I suggest not to), which I feel is justified since the game doesn't really give a higher difficulty mode.

The game is immersive (probably because I played it on first person view), it lets you pay attention to details without forcing it to you. All the clues that you acquired so far is recorded in your case notebook including previous conversations and character portraits, so you don't have to replay the case if you forgot a little detail.

Cases

There are 6 cases in total to solve, all interesting on each own for having a different kind of elements attached to it, you can see difference of people in terms of personalities, lifestyle, wealth, age and more. Each case are interesting because there is this mysterious and chilling complexion associated with all of it, the music is probably the biggest factor that affects this. On some cases, I find myself pondering and going through all the clues to arrive at the right conclusion but also there were cases that are elementary; straightforward and can be easily solved.

Visuals and Performance

The graphics is still good despite it being released on 2014! The lightning and visuals really captures the mystique ambience of the game and they nailed the atmosphere for a detective game; soothing, chilling, enigmatic.

Game runs smoothly on my system on full settings, no hiccups, no lags, and load times (Sherlock on the cab) are fairly fast. So far in my 30hr+ playthrough, I haven't encountered a gamebreaking bug. However, my game crashed twice during those playthroughs.

Music and Sounds

Oh boy the background music makes you feel like you're in a place that you are unfamiliar with and a feeling that someone's probably going to kill you! It's one of the biggest factors that makes each case alluring, perplexing, and sinister.

The background noise is one of the many aspects that encaptures you being in a city, crowd, crime scene. You can hear the calesa's wheels in the pavements, the horses, Toby soft barking, people chattering and walking, all those things that makes you seem less alone.

Achievements

The achievements are fairly easy to get since the all cases can be replayed after you've solved them. I got all achievements on the my 2nd playthrough, but if you look at guides you can do it in one.I suggest don't look for guides! That's not how you should play detective games!

Conclusion

This kind of game genre is not for everyone; if you're onto some detective telltale like games then you've got yourself a treat, if not then you shouldn't be looking in here at the first place.

My only concern is the game feels too short for me although I completed it 100% in 30hr+ . This game makes me want to play more cases! 10 cases should be the standard instead of 6, but hey the game is cheap and constantly on the discount bin and I got this during a sale so its all worth it.

also Toby has the best nose in the British Empire!!!

Gameplay
I'm a very big fan of games like Diablo and Path of Exile and to see a Darksiders game being made like it got my hopes up and it lived on with my expectations! The camera angle being that way could also make you feel like the Charred Council or Samael or Lucifer or whatever entity you are that is watching these Horsemen battling out there for the sake of balance.

However, the biggest problem for me is the controls (playing in keyboard and mouse), sometimes the controls are unresponsive and that could basically mean life and death depending on situations especially jumping puzzle and platform puzzles You'll know what I'm talking when you try the Leviathan's Landing . The jumping puzzles on this game can also be frustrating because the camera angle wont really help you that much.

Game Difficulty and Combat
Mayhem and Apocalyptic difficulty isn't really that hard during Chapter Main Quests, the only hard thing about Mayhem and Apocalyptic difficulty are from specific Chapter Side Quests and Achievements.

The combat mechanics of the game is similar to the previous series just in a different angle, the biggest issue for me about the combat is how Strife is stronger than War in terms of damage scaling and crowd control, or in short overall playstyle despite having 1400+ rating on both characters. I've completed the game on Apocalyptic difficulty and did Arena (Wave 175) mainly using Strife as the DPS carry and only using War for [Vorpal Blade, Gauntlet, and when Strife is dead[/b] to stall time until Strife is back on the battlefield.

WAR. His combat style is still the same as Darksiders 1 but in this game Strife outperforms him. He have enchantments that I don't really use, it would've been much better if the enchantments were all passives to make him be in equal terms of power with Strife. Although he is a lot tankier than Strife it won't really matter that much since on Apocalyptic difficulty monsters and bosses 1-3 shots you.

The best skill and the only skill to waste wrath is the Blade Geyser, it could clear those mini monsters fast which could save Strife some bullets. The Charge skill is useless and you could still be 1-4 shotted even on Stoneskin.

They could've also added a Hotstreak equivalent for War probably name it Bloodlust where war could have increased attack speed and damage and tankiness for the entire duration.

Chaos form takes a time to build up and deals lesser damage compared to Anarchy form .

STRIFE. This guy is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ overpowered and that's the problem, it makes Strife a much better character to play than War. Throughout my entire playthrough I only used the Pistol Rounds and Static Shot ammo, and that's another problem here, he got a lot of of good bullets but these 2 outweighs every bullets in his arsenal.

Pistol Rounds are infinite and also powerful - they could've made this rounds the same as Salvation on Darksiders 2, which overheats the gun when firing it too much and needs to be cooled down so that we could use War when the gun overheats.

The Clone skill deals a lot of damage and could lure enemies to target it, World Ender deals a truckton of damage and Caltrops despite having a slow it is still useless for me and only used it twice for the entire playthrough, you don't need Caltrops you are not Catwoman?

The Anarchy form shreds enemies and makes your screen a mess (I'm not complaining it's actually beautiful), it only takes a few Static Shot hits to have it up again and it also has auto aim when using Missile Barrage / Laser attack.

Visuals and Performance
The game's visual is stunning and the lighting is on point. The game is also smooth, fast load times, no hiccups and lags, no game breaking bugs encountered on my entire playthrough also, only bug I encountered is the Boatman Farthing Coin bug which doesn't really do anything but the HUD display stays on the screen until you exit to desktop.

Music
The music is well produced, it encaptures the atmosphere and tension of the current chapter you're in. The best soundtrack in the entire series. I bought the Digital Extra because the soundtrack is fire.

Storyline
The per chapter storyline is a great way to convey the story. As the story unfolds, it got me really hooked and wanting to know more of what truly is happening behind the Horsemen's back and who are really responsible for such schemes.

I can see another game made with this kind of format using War and Fury, since its been told in the beginning that they were attending on other matters. The story is way before DS1,DS2 and DS3 hence the name Genesis. It took place when humans were still having tribal lifestyle and Lucifer tempted or corrupted the humans and made us what we are today.

Single Player and Multiplayer experience
Single-Player.. Finished the game on single-player mode. I had no problems with it other than the lack of War on my playthrough, gladly there's a multiplayer mode to make up for that.

Multiplayer. Can't say anything about multiplayer yet. I finished the game in Single-Player mode, would probably retry this game on Multiplayer when I have someone to play this with.

Achievements
The achievements are fairly easy to get. There is a collectible track counter on the HUD chapter display and there is a collectible map on every chapter. No missable achievements.

NO BUGS . Before I say anything at all, I'd like to point out that I haven't encountered even 1 bug in my entire playthrough.

DIFFICULTY . The 3rd Darksiders game has to be the hardest to play on the series with Reckoning difficulty. It's more like combination of Dark Souls and Darksiders which makes the game harder, which how games should be played!!

COMBAT STYLE . This however is up to you, you can either choose Default (Dark Souls like) or Classic (Classic DS1 and DS2 hack and slash). I tried Default on Reckoning difficulty on a fresh save file and I got my ass handed to me so I switch to Classic.

MAPLESS JOURNEY . They want full immersion and user experience in the game, hence they removed the mini-map. The lack of mini-map makes this game very confusing to some people at first, I was also perplexed by this since I was accustomed to the map from DS1 and DS2 but as you progress through the story you will notice how beautiful this game really is and how well the developers designed this map, and also the music is very good too!

COLLECTIBLES . Collectibles are very easy to find (since you will search a place a lot!) and not forcing you to collect everything for achievements, most collectibles can be bought from Vulgrim and you can always backtrack along the way.

ACHIEVEMENTS . You can easily 100% the achievements in this game after your playthrough in Armageddon Mode(NG+1). Collectible achievements carries over and you can clean up missed achievements (3 missable achievements) on NG+1.

STORY . This game can be finished under 2-3 hours in the easiest difficulty. The story is very direct, kill the Seven Deadly Sins and you finish the game, however there is a twist on the ending whether or not you Kill Abraxis and Spare the Lord of Hollows. Fury's character progress is also very good as you can see her getting humbled and changed throughout the storyline everytime she terminates a Sin.
