Destiny 2 is in a very interesting place where it has a lot of mismatched, open ended content. Combined with hundreds of dollars of DLC Content. Personally, I didn't really find the strike content that interesting base or DLC content, and, if I did purchase a DLC it was purely for purchasing weapons for PvP purposes.

Despite the questionable PvE/PvM content.
The game provides easily the best PvP experience in the FPS Genre, hands down.

I don't think Call of Duty, Apex Legends are even comparable in terms of the polish and value that Destiny 2 provides in terms of PvP.
The only game that comes close to the PvP content of Destiny 2 is Titan Fall 2. However, Titan Fall 2 really lacks the polish that Destiny 2 has.

I always enjoy playing Elimination rounds in the Crucible for Destiny 2. There is some nice game progression where you can buy "bounties" in order to get random rolls for potentially extra, valuable gear.

My verdict is that this game is a terrible PvE, PvM game. If you are here for the DLC content, strikes, raids, quests etc. Don't bother. It will be underwhelming even for players who enjoy games like WoW or Final Fantasy.

If you are looking for an entertaining, novel FPS PvP experience. Destiny 2 provides easily the best of any game in the FPS genre, and, probably the best FPS PvP game on the market right now.

Everything about this game is well above the standards of other sandbox games such as Rust, Ark etc.

However, the one thing that has *really* failed for this game is the AI.
The AI can be extremely problematic and buggy.

I'm more than happy to work with their team to resolve this. It's all UE4 and I'm hoping they've written it in C++ so it's easy for me to convert.

Overall, if the AI gets fixed, this would easily be the best sandbox game in it's class right now. Until then, many may find this game annoying or unenjoyable. Especially those looking for a PvE experience.

I still thoroughly enjoy the game but I'm here mostly for PvP so the AI is secondary.

Update September 28th:

I've noticed Funcom has taken the AI issue seriously and have done some serious improvements after I offered to work on the project for free. I still believe there is a lot of potential to make the AI more intuitive and engaging for PvE players. But I digress. Major issues have been resolved and that's what is most important.

Furthermore, making combat more complex. Adding more special moves could make the combat even more engaging. It doesn't need to have a skill tree as in depth as Path of Exile or WoW... But I'd imagine having such a thing would make combat far more interesting.

Overall, ecstatic to see Funcom polish and improve the project over time even if the PvP player base is small. Making the PvP experience more welcoming to beginners or more casuals (I'm a hardcore player) is a bit more complex and not nuanced to solve.

I can only imagine having more complex group structures, ie: Guilds that over arch clans that can help newbies more effectively.

Regardless and I digress, glad to see the game getting the love it needs and I enjoy the game both for it's building design mechanics (I love doing RP in PvP). And for it's core PvP raid mechanics.
