Been playing this game on and off for about 4 years now. Over that time, this game has grown and evolved more than any other live service game I know, with the exception of Fortnite. Every new chapter shakes up the meta, for better or worse.

The devs have been a lot better over the past year or so to try to stomp out the OP metas that have plagued the game for years and I think they've done well so far. In an asymmetrical game, there's always going to be imbalance. But right now, I think the game is in the best spot its ever been. You will always have sweaty players in top MMR that run the same S tier perks every match, but for the rest of us experimenting with different perks is still fairly fun and balanced.

They've also been branching out with different event gametypes as well recently, which have been a fun changeup from the standard mode. In the past, all we've gotten were some small modifications to the main mode during holidays. But over the past year, we've gotten a randomized perk mode, no perks mode, 2v8, and the Haunted by Daylight Halloween event that were a breath of fresh air. Unfortunately, none of these modes are permanent, but it seems like they're working towards trying to make the 2v8 mode permanent once it's more fleshed out.

The main downsides of the game are the new beginner experience and general toxicity in the community. I'd highly recommend having someone to help guide you when starting out, jumping in at the moment as a new player can be extremely overwhelming. BHVR really needs to revamp the tutorials/training, because the current offering is only the extreme basics and you need to watch hours of guides and streams to really get an understanding of the game, on top of actually just playing it.

Overall though, I still recommend the game. It's definitely one of the most unique multiplayer offerings on the market and there's a reason why it's still dominating the asymmetrical PVP space. This game is over 8 years old and it still has many more years of life left in it. It's hard to accurately describe, so pick it up cheap on a sale or jump in during one of the free trial periods to check it out for yourself.

Silent Hill 2 set the bar for survival horror games in 2001, and they've done it again in 2024. Even with all the initial skepticism and doubt, Bloober Team came through and created not only one of the best games of the year, but one of the best games of this generation.

Everything you know and love about the original is retained and taken to the next level in this loving remake. This is not simply a recreation of the original game, but rather a re-imagining. It follows the same general plot of the original, but mixes up the level design and puzzles to keep the game feeling fresh. As a long time fan of the original, I have to say I was thoroughly impressed with the changes made in this one. Much like the Resident Evil 4 Remake, it's crafted in such a way that doesn't nullify the original game, but rather compliments it. You could play the original and this remake and have two totally different experiences.

Generally, each section is also much more fleshed out in this version compared to the original, with each major location taking me multiple hours to complete on a first playthough. My final in-game time came to just about 17 hours, but my Steam time was 21. That's nearly double the average runtime of the original, and none of it feels padded or feels like it drags too long. I was immersed in every minute of gameplay, wanting to get to the next room, solve the next puzzle, and advance the plot.

According to my end-game stats, there are also 8 total endings now, where the original had 6. There is an insane amount of replay value here on top of an already lengthy first time experience. The amount of love and care that went into this remake just continues to blow my mind. I can only dream Konami is met with enough positive reception to continue forward and give this treatment to the rest of the main franchise.

Personally, this is a 10/10 game. Objectively, 9/10 if you want to factor in technical issues. Performance is demanding, but not poor. I was able to hold a fair 70-100 FPS on Epic settings with Balanced DLSS at 1080p. Specs below:

RTX 3080
Intel Core i7 13700K
32GB DDR5 6400 Mhz
WD Black SN750

0 crashes in over 20 hours of gameplay, virtually no stutter except from a very few minor times I could count on 1 hand. The biggest issue I had was an annoying bug with the Dualsense controller losing vibration randomly, which required me to wiggle my mouse to get it back. This would happen once every 15-20 mins. I got stuck in geometry 1 time that required me to reload a save. Aside from that, no issues.

Can't recommend this game enough. Thank you Konami and Bloober Team for this wonderful game, it was very much worth the wait and I can't wait to see what's next for the Silent Hill franchise. We are so back.

Great game. I was a big fan of We Create Stuff's "Nightmare House 2" Half-Life 2 mod back in the day and this game was very reminiscent. Interesting story, good scares, very familiar formula to Nightmare House, but with a new coat of paint. The game goes on sale for criminally low as well, often under $5. Highly recommend to any horror/thriller fans.

Another quality remake from Capcom. As the titles suggests, it's more of a remaster than a remake, but it does have some very nice improvements that both make it more accessible to new players while simultaneously providing quality of life to veterans alike.

The game is Dead Rising verbatim, but adds a fresh coat of paint to the visuals, improved controls, a tiny bit of extra content in the form of the rocket launcher that was cut from the original, as well as some new costumes, camera features, and improvements that make PP stickers easier to find. The survivor AI is also greatly improved making escorting survivors much less of a chore.

Overall I would definitely recommend to anyone playing for the first time and long time fans alike. There's something for everyone here.

Owned the game for years, never really got very far in it. As soon as I fired up Dusk HD though, I was hooked. Makes the game go from Quake 1 to Quake 2 real quick. Thank you New Blood for such a quality face lift, and for free at that. I would have happily paid for this.

Big recommend to fans of Resident Evil style games. Puzzle solving, inventory management, backtracking to previous areas for hidden items, safe rooms, multiple endings, this game has it all. My first run took me about 6 1/2 hours, but I can easily see later runs taking much less, just like Resident Evil. Definitely a gem in the survival horror genre, fingers crossed for an eventual sequel.
