DLC definition:
Downloadable content (DLC) is additional content created for a released video game. It is distributed through the Internet by the game's official publisher. Downloadable content can be of several types, ranging from aesthetic outfit changes to a new, extensive storyline, similar to an expansion pack.

Technically is DLC, but is such a stupid concept for addtional content that even if this was on sale for 50p... wouldn't make sense

Over analysation is the unintended aspect of this game. What boasts itself on being narrative and telling the story of a game-coding introvert, really just becomes a dictating of what the narrator thinks it all means, these are often obscure and are him trying to claim repetition of aspects in his games (i.e. a recurring lamp at the end of every level) is often just natural behaviour in the creation process by having some sense of continuity so that it is easier to tell our progress.

Great concept game that lets itself down with the repetitive gameplay, terrible controls and sheer boredom of the battles.
Review broken down into 1.Pros 2.Cons 3.Summary 4.Price to pay

Pros:
- Really cool idea, its exciting to start up for the first time as its something I've never had before and I have no expections or idea of what kind of game this'll be
- Fairly good base managment system
- Lots of bug types, clearly a lot of thought has gone into what kind of bugs to throw against the player, their pretty well paced out and the big bugs make you a little intimidated due to the sheer size of them
- Interesting first person mode, works with the infantry but very lacking in other departments
- First person mode, they added a tiny detail which I LOVE, its weapon recoil on the riflemen... its such a tiny thing and so trivial considering they're toy soldiers ffs.. but its nice that they thought about it
- Lots of friendly unit types too

Cons:
- Battles have 0 tactical element to them, its just "get sappers, place down as many defences as you can before the enemy gets there" then when it says they're too close you finally begin organising the actualy fighting troops
- Graphics, I know you just read that and went "hey! but this game isn't trying to have amazing graphics but instead have good gameplay!" ... Point still stands. Whilst I even appreciate the art style would be minimalist, this is an impressivly
old engine.
- Controls... where to start on this one..., they've added control groups, which is good. The camera control is so terrible that you'll often find yourself picking a high point on the map and just managing everything from afar as that way you don't have to move the camera. You can't double tap a control group to find out where they are either (essentially where the camera jumps to the group) so it makes the controls for the camera even more relevent.
- Missions. Every single mission will be either "Defend X" or "Defend X... then take Y once the enemy is dead" making the gameplay boring and incredibly repetitive. There are special missions which are a random "event", so to speak, they are nearly always "Defend X... BUT ONLY WITH AIRCRAFT!" ... ¬_¬
- The gameplay is entirely orrientated so that you HAVE to defend.. You = ranged, enemy = melee ... it comes down to "shoot them before they get to eat you", which only reinforces the turtle style gameplay. I know I mentioned it in the point before, but saying it again as its not something that can be fixed with a patch, but its a broken core game mechanic
- The UI is abysmal.. Theres no 1 bad feature... its all garbage, and thats not me being cruel. Its genuinely infuriating to use.
- Stats are almost irrelevent as the UI is so bad its impossible to understand whats going on, and 99/100 they wont matter anyway.. all comes down to how much resources you have to builds troops
- NO TUTORIAL!!! its 2017 and instead of a tutorial they give you an encyclopedia on every single possible outcome. In which each topic is about the same length of this review, and about as interesting as well (boring)

Summary:
This game feels like an Early Access game, the devs are doing work to help out the games dire dilemas, but it should not be advertised as a finished product. Real shame I have to downvote this as the idea sounds really cool and what made me play the game, but its beyond recovery as most of the underwhelming features are core game mechanics which would require completely new coding

Price I'd Pay: If you still want to give a try (resist the urge, go have a cup of tea or watch paint dry instead) then don't pay any more than £2 for it

Boring game that tries to be a WW2 Wargame, but sadly falls short on the strategic element that was so crucial to Wargames success.

Pros:
- WW2 (I seriously love this genre)
- Clean UI
- Pretty good learning tutorials and lessons
- The divisions are diverse, well balanced and each have their own unique playstyle which allows for hours of different gameplay
- Pretty important army group builder (essentially your "deck" of availible units throughout the skirmish) from the main menu that plays a massive part in how you go in to the fight, but doesn't restrict you too much (can pick a tank division but still have loads of arty for example)

Cons:
- Terrible player AI, pathing is abysmal and whilst I'd like to say that 70% of your time is spent reacting to the opponent, its mostly just spent telling your damn AT guns to face the right way and getting emplacments to stop running around and setup... but then they get taken out by a tank that is miles away
- Even worse AI (as in opponents/allies), I've repeatedly lost when playing with ai "maybe i'm just bad, even though my score is the highest on my team"... tried ramping up to me+3 very hard ais VS 4 medium and its the same deal, the AI just plays a VERY certain way and the second you break that it doesn't know what to do so does nothing (half my time playing this game was spent testing this)
- Sadly, the WW2 skin is the only thing the is accurate in this game with major factors of WW2 being completely ignored (why i wanted this game to be better than wargame, i prefer this genre). Artillery is useless (very useful is RL), tanks are incredibly accurate even when firing on the move (and often kill things in one hit, resulting in every fight just being about numbers). infantry are only good as ambushers, and only are effective once or twice, then it just takes too long to get replacements in position.
- Ultimately; the unit and division diversity is completely lost by the fact that all the stats are almost identical (stug 3 having same stats as a sherman, not 2 stugs having the same stats), making the whole thing just about throwing troops at eachother till one runs out of supply
- Stealth isn't in this game, but recon units have less vision than most other units?
- Air units are underwhelming, with little chances to field a major airforce they're more of a "oh crap, theres an AT gun on my flank... oh well, just send a bomber"
- ALL THE MAPS ARE THE SAME

Apologies, rant over... I REALLY wanted this game to be a success, things like CoH2 are fun, but not particularly challenging and often is a lot more arcadey than this. But sadly the things that are wrong with this game (in my opinion) are core mechanics and pretty much the bread and butter of standard gameplay. Wargame is majorly better polished, even if i do incredibly appreciate this genre, i still will be playing wargame over this

This'll be short and sweet

- Pros
- Cons
- Summary

Overall: 7/10

Pros:
- Fantastic gameplay, alone or with friends
- Well balanced weapons (which is rare)
- Good health size, not as merciless as ARMA, but not like Battlefield or COD
- Great map, its all been really well designed and i'm constantly finding new stuff (the most recent was a massive underground bunker)
- Good graphics, when it finally loads (see "cons")
- Weapon mods are terrific, you can actually customise your loadout in the short space of a round
- Its REALLY fun to play, whether you're scrounging around for a weapon when there are 4 other people around you or if you're the last team in a 3 metre zone having an intense firefight whilst trying to run into the zone... Its pretty good
- Fairly good hitboxes, no BS "shooting through walls" or around corners
- Nice matchmaking types (solo, duo and squad up to 4) so you wont be 1vs4 from the start

Cons:
- Game isn't optimised, as of the most recent patch (20/4/17) its a little better, but still plays around 30fps (GTX970)
- LAG, dear god the lag is terrible, mainly at the beginning of the match but towards the end as more players converge in a smaller space, it really becomes an issue (straight-up lost matches because of it, and my download speed is 120mb/s)
- Its fun, but I could see the repition of "jump, loot, die, jump, loot, die" becoming quite tedious over a short time... If you have friends who play great, if not then stay away

Summary

Good game overall, needs optimisation badly, due to the increasing hype around it they're keeping up with demand, but barely. Would recommend in its current state if you have a beefy PC with a semi-reliable internet, otherwise you'd probably frustrate yourself too much
