Early Access Review
Plenty of reason for people to be mad. I imagine a lot of people were expecting the early access release to be, at the minimum, on par with KSP1 as far as features and performance go. I think it's achieved feature parity to a reasonable level. Maybe it's missing a few things here and there, but it's a playable sandbox right now, which is what I was hoping for and why I'm satisfied after buying it.

The performance woes are real, but scale depending on your hardware. Don't get me wrong, I've seen the videos on YouTube with atrocious performance. I have a 5800X paired with a 6900XT, and I occasionally get stutter and generally low FPS in certain circumstances. The main culprit seems to be Kerbin - during launch, as more of the planet comes into view, the game struggles to meet demand and you start to experience frame loss. With my hardware (running 4k at highest settings, mind you), it's not too bothersome, but I would assume this problem gets MUCH worse with lesser hardware.

Sure, I'm disappointed it's not better, but considering how dedicated this dev team has been in the past, I fully expect optimization in the near future. Looking forward for more features in the future, but for now I will explore the system ...hopefully without too much lag! Happy trails to all who bother testing the game right now

-- EDIT (20 Dec 2023) --

Performance is MUCH better. The new update adds a lot of purposeful and interesting game play and feels very natural. Well done. Still the random weird glitch, but we are trending in a much better direction than launch! I'm super excited for the future of the feature road map.

-- EDIT (19 Jun 2024) --

What an absolutely horrible situation. This is one of the worst cases of organizational management we've seen around a video game in a long time. I have lost total faith in the mission this game set out to accomplish.
