One of the best games I've played in years, and definitely one of the best RPGs to ever come out

The story is great, the writing is amazing and the world building is mind bogglingly good.
The turn based combat is done so well that even people who don't like turn based combat will enjoy it,
The combat itself is fluid, very fun and limited only by your imagination/character build.

Last but not least, the graphics are beautiful and the soundtrack is amazing.

You definitely don't want to miss out on this game, absolute 10/10

tldr: worth the 3 bucks if you're gonna play with your friends a few times before you get bored but if you're not into unfinished early access indie games might be best to avoid for now

eh.... God awful lightning, questionable audio design, puzzles go from braindead to annoyingly convoluted, the ghost is as scary as Disneyland, controls are clunky, no audio settings, no graphical settings, no crouching, you can't get into the closets unless both doors are open and the effect of "fear" isn't scary but annoying and stupid and for now there's only three maps (two if you have a party of 3 people since the first map is only for 1-2 players)

that being said, it's an early access game for 3€ so it's still fun if your expectations aren't high.
I'm not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on the game since it's still good considering it's a new indie dev team, just pointing out the stuff that I'm sure will be fixed at some point

Don't let the clunky graphics scare you off!
This game is very fun and very charming.
It's fun playing with your friends vs AI, but you can also fight PvPvE!
Thus far there's the Japanese, Italians, Germans, Americans, English (with Polish units too) and Russians.
The maps are good (and across multiple theaters, from Anzio to Japan) , but the best part is you can make your own in the map editor!

The dev team is very responsive in their Discord, they push out new updates and are currently reworking the animations and adding a lot of new stuff, such as MODDING TOOLS!

It reminds me a lot of Battlefield 1942, but even cooler since you get an AI squad you can order around, and when you die you can take control of any surviving squadmates.

Definitely worth your money and time, and it will only get better.

DO NOT BUY

It's on sale but even then, not worth it. A great game ruined by the devs and their greed.

You buy this for 20,39€ (60€ when not on sale). You download 80gb thinking you got the whole game and you'll finally kick your friends ass using all the cool units, right?
"NOPE, ♥♥♥♥ YOU" says Creative Assembly as they charge you another 15€ (also 60€ normally) for the first game, and if you don't have the first game, too bad! You can't play as Chaos, you can't play as the Empire, you can't play as the vampire lords, all you can do is play 4 regurgitated versions of Elves, 2 copy paste factions of lizardmen and two copy paste factions for the Skaven.

So you charge me for your game, charge me for the dlc, then charge me again for not having the first game, JUST TO GIVE ME THE CONTENT WHICH IS ALREADY IN THE GAME I PAID FOR.
To that I say you can suck me off, I'll be refunding, pirating the game and enjoying it over hamachi.

Do not buy. Throw your money down the toilet, you'll be better off.

327 hours in and I'll gladly put another 300+ into it

This game has unending potential with so many options both in vanilla and modded.
With the vanilla you can still put 100s of hours into the KOtH servers, or you can mod the ♥♥♥♥ out of it and be a 40k space marine purging xenos, or a soldier in ww2, the possibilities are literally endless and limited only by your imagination.

Sure, it has bugs. A *lot* of bugs, and it can be very convoluted, confusing and infuriating, But unlike other games, in this case it's well worth to be patient and stick with it until you find your niche.
I highly recommend modding it and finding a community that runs events using those mods.

The DLC you can live without since some mods bypass the DLC paywall, but they're worth getting on sales when they're 2-3€ a pop

EDIT:
The infantry rework is a big step in the right direction, making it much harder and more milsim

However; the recoil should be toned down, not by much but currently it's absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. You can't tell me anyone who ever fired a gun more than twice in their life would have such poor recoil management like the supposedly professional soldiers in squad.
Two shots in semi auto from a shouldered M4 in stationary crouched position would not make your gun kick your eye out and jump into the sky. Even at full auto you can land accurate bursts, but here its impossible. If you're trying to use full auto from a distance longer than two feet, enjoy the respawn screen because all of your bullets will go in every direction while your gun erratically skyrockets into the stratosphere

Also most of the scopes are way too zoomed out to be useful.
The PSO-4 in Squad makes the SVD disgusting to use because you have zero peripheral vision, a tiny circle with fisheye lens effect and teeny tiny markings. Even with a normal 24" screen you'll be leaning your head into the monitor to try and see which pixel you're shooting




If you care about realism or milsim games in general; *DON'T BUY*.

I've been watching this game since the day it was announced, I was there for the beta and been here since its full release.

I had nearly 300 hours of genuine fun until the bad decisions of the devs drove away the core milsim fanbase.
I have countless memorable games where communication with the team brought us victory, countless movie-like moments to the point it was a contender to arma... Or it *was*, until the updates dried out, the core milsim community migrated to other games, the chinese pretty much run rampant and the playerbase is a bunch of inbreeds.
Don't expect to have decent teammates that will work together, you will get imbeciles and crack babies which somehow lived through infancy that prefer trolling and running around randomly to actually playing. You better count yourself lucky if more than two people in your squad have a mic, and usually it's a polish/chinese/arab ♥♥♥♥ calling you a r*tard.

Steer clear of this ♥♥♥♥ heap, RIP Squad (and every other project related to OWI such as Post Scriptum and Beyond the Wire both of which are dead)

went back to it again, still a buggy unplayable mess that looks, acts and runs like a poorly made asset flip. It's still barren and empty. The bot update is nice, but too little and too late. Game was dead on arrival and will most likely stay so. Buyer beware, not worth your money.

At its current stage the game is the virtual equivalent of a stillborn crack baby.
If you're lucky there will be maybe 30 people online on a good day, which is rare.

Unless you really hate your money, don't buy it. It's horrible even by early access standards. Wait for price/content drops.
Otherwise it shows great potential and I hope the devs pull their heads out of their ass and put some work into marketing.
