This is such a fantastic game. This studio has such a unique style and approach to gamedesign\storytelling, and I love it so much!
I'd love to say the writing here is fantastic, but I'm writing this right after finishing the game, and I can't say I fully understand it. Regardless, I picked up a few themes already, and the general mystery and the non-linear plot is already enough to qualify this as a "well written work of fiction". The directing is also surprisingly good, mainly its use of camera angles and shot composition are something I've never seen in a game before.
In short, It's beautifully tense, fascinating and abstract.

I'm not sure what that was...
The presentation was good - I love the visuals, atmosphere and effects (they really nailed the feeling of going at an incredibly high speed). The story was really ambiguous - which is something I generally like a lot. And while there's a part of me that wants to watch a Youtube video explaining everything, I would prefer to try and piece this story on my own.
In most cases, I would do that, this game is short enough to warrant a second or even third playthrough for me, but I'll be honest - the game isn't fun at all IMO... Controls and mechanics are good, and again, the game feel is immaculate, but in practice the game ends up being really boring. The main reason being the fact that the levels are entirely procedurally generated. it makes everything feel bland, repetitive, and lacking in engaging challenges. I guess that's part of the point, and that's fine - I can enjoy a good walking simulator, but that's not what I expected going into this (probably my fault - I didn't look at any clips or trailers besides a few from Twitter), so keep in mind this won't necessarily be fun in the traditional sense...

Try it if you're curious, it's short and intriguing, but more as an experience than a game..

The best way I can describe Hypnospace Outlaw is as a "90's internet simulator". You play as an enforcer, your job is to make sure everyone online follows the C.H.I.M.E rules (Content infringement, Harassment, Illegal activity, Malicious software and Extralegal commerce).
Throughout your Law-keeping journey you will encounter many different website made by many different people. Some sites are funny, some are very personal and some just don't work at all. I was surprised by the amount of sites Hypnospace has, the game truly feels alive, you have hater forums trashing people, fictional products\bands\cultural icons, and small businesses adapting to the online world (just to name a few). And the best part of all is everything interacts with each other.
You can see someone's personal website with a section mourning his dead wife only to find him, hours later, posting about her in a "remembering the one's we lost" website, for example.
Everything is connected in Hypnospace Outlaw and it makes it feel alive.
Like I said earlier some websites are funny, and yeah, they are. The game is really funny to me, from old people not knowing how to use the internet, to stupid jingles for fake products. The game is full of surprising and hilarious moments

I recommend Hypnospace Outlaw, however I do think you have to like or at the very least tolerate 90's internet and it's culture to enjoy this one. Sounds obvious but still better said than not...

I can go on and on about how it's technically a good game: Nice graphics, enjoyable soundtrack, good writing and gameplay and so on. But Oneshot is so much more than just a good game, It's an experience, one that I think you should try.

This game reminded me why I love this medium. It redefined my expectations of what a game can be and it's probably the best and most interesting use of fourth wall breaks I have ever experienced.

What I'm trying to say is, Oneshot is a once in a life-time experience, both literally and emotionally.
Play it.

This is a really simple and relaxing town building sim that is a great example of the phrase "limitations make creativity".
You can't place benches or light poles, or create roads. The only things you can place in Townscaper are houses, if enough houses are next to each-other they become stand-able ground, if you put multiple houses on top of each other they will become a tower.
That's the beautiful thing about Townscaper, you only place houses, the simulation makes them into a livable town. You have to work with the limitations of the software to create the town of your dreams. And I love it!

It's not perfect, obviously, the main issue being technical. After building to a certain point the simulation takes a really long time to process the landscape and add small details to it, you end up having to wait a few seconds, doing nothing, for the program to finish loading. But that just might be my pc.

All in all I think Townscaper is worth the price if you're looking for a relaxing time that can yield some interesting and beautiful towns.

Pumpkin Jack is a game I would recommend to anyone who enjoys the genre, but it has a few glaring issues.
I'll start with the good parts. Visually, the game looks great. It has this cartoony, colorful but still spooky art style which I think is gorgeous. This is amplified by the lighting which adds a lot of color and atmosphere to the world.
The story is nothing crazy but it's silly, fun and fits the spooky yet cartoonish vibes the game has.
Gameplay-wise, the level design is enjoyable, every level has it's own unique mechanic which gives each one it's own identity and keeps the play experience interesting and fresh. The levels are linear but still feature plenty of collectibles that add a bit of replay value to the game.

With all the positives aside, I feel like a lot more work could've gone for the game's combat system. It's a button masher. You have one attack button, a roll and a ranged attack with your bird companion. Personally, I almost never used the bird, it has nothing special going for it, it's a regular ranged attack, and it doesn't even do that much damage...
That leaves me with the regular attack, the only other attack in the game.. To be fair, you do get other weapons as you play the game but most of them feel very similar to each other and I didn't feel like the game gave me enough incentive to experiment with the weapons.
I Think the solution would be to add enemies with different weak spots that require different weapons to get to, separate the combat into light & heavy attacks, to add a bit more flavor, and to make the bird's attack a bit more interesting. I thought of something like Griffon from DMC5, which launches enemies into the air and leaves them open for a combo. Obviously, DMC and Pumpkin Jack are very different games and I'm not expecting Jack to start doing aerial combos but giving the bird something more than "the attack you occasionally use on one-hit enemies" will be better.

Something that doesn't bother me but I know will bother some is the game's length. I still haven't finished the game, I'm in the third level, but, apparently, that's half of the game already. The game has 6 levels and according to howlongtobeat.com it takes 4.5 hours to finish.
Personally, I have no problem with this, I don't mind short games if they're fun to play, and Pumpking Jack is a fun game. It looks great, it plays great (outside of the combat) and I would recommend to anyone who doesn't mind the game's length and button mashy combat system.

==========================================
Again, I should mention that I still haven't finished the game
I'll continue playing it and update this review accordingly

I really liked this game.

I love the pixel-art and overall visual style, the music is mostly synth-waves which isn't really for me but there are still some tracks I liked (such as: Chinatown and Overdose ), and there are a few ambients I really liked, most notably Rain on Brick which I found very atmospheric and emotional in some ways.

The gameplay is hard but still fun, it's a fairly simple combat system that always finds new ways to challenge the player and never gets old.
There are 11 levels in the game and every one of them feels unique and different from the last.

The story was interesting. I won't spoil anything but prepare yourself, it was a lot darker than I could've ever expected. Not sure if the following is a spoiler but just in case: The story ends with a "To be continued" and from what I understand there's a DLC on the way and I can't wait to play it.

basically it's great!

I didn't expect I would enjoy this game as much as I did but I really loved it.
The art/animation looks really good,
The writing always made me laugh,
And the soundtrack was fun too.

The game has a time limit and every time you play a mini-game with a character\use the trolley to move around the city time passes.
Which means the game takes a few hours to finish, however, due to the time limit you won't have enough time to talk to all the characters in one playthrough, you don't have to talk to every single character but if you're curios like me and want to meet every character the game will have some replay value for you (it's also required for 100% completion).

This is an easy recommendation.

Just a quick tip for all fellow Oculus enjoyers:
When you start the game you might notice that it thinks your using vive controllers.
To make it recognize the touch controllers you need to go to the game's properties (Library -> I expect you to die -> gear icon-> properties)
then go to beta and choose "Compatibility - Improved compatibility for some configutrations"

It's TF2, I don't really need to explain it.

The game is free so I don't see any reason not to try it BUT I recommend playing on custom servers because they usually disable features like random crits and random bullet spread (which most players find annoying) and from what I've heard they have less bots.
In general, base TF2 is pretty dated and hard to get into so use the internet if you need help.
