This is an excellent game. The gunplay is smooth, everything is animated meticulously and said animations have flair. The concept is refreshing and new, and the game plays very well. The ONLY gripe is that there isn't any players. They definitely need more marketing, because this game is seriously a gem.

I really do like this game. It has the feel of DayZ, but the first person and shooting animations are much more polished than DayZ and this game has been in development for much less time. A majority of the reviews are from people who bought this game expecting more, but when I bought it, I just expected what was shown on the steam page, and the game delivered.

Truly a gem. Can't wait to see where this goes.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this game. As sad as this sounds, I have 32 hours in the past two weeks at the time of writing this review.

PROS
  • This game is extremely well optimized. Despite this fact, the graphics are absolutely beautiful.
  • The gore is done perfectly, and as far as I'm concerned, there has never been anything more satisfying in any game I've ever played than hitting someone in the head with a maul and seeing their head explode.
  • The customization is INSANE: there is so much depth to the customization that you can make any character you'd want. You want to have a protected beefy unit with a maul? You can. Want to make a meme character that uses a lute and frying pans as weapons? You can. Want to LITERALLY BE SHREK? You can.
  • Out of all of these things, nothing stands out to me as much as the combat. I have NEVER, and I mean NEVER, played a game with combat as fluid as this one. The parry/swing system is driven by your mouse movements, so if you want to swing to the right, you have to move your screen to the right, etc. On top of this, by moving your character and your screen, you can perform accel/drag hits to throw off your opponents and make them parry too late/early.

CONS
  • The only thing that can be somewhat annoying for people who are newer is the learning curve. If you don't know what you're doing, you will die. There is no exceptions. You have to know when to pick fights and when to disengage, and unfortunately, that just comes with playtime. Because of this, I believe people get tired of this game too quickly and aren't willing to learn how to play it better and avoid potential problems they may run into in the future.
  • Aside from the last one, the community is EXTREMELY toxic, but overall we have a good sense of humor.

Other than that and some minor balancing issues, this game is nearly perfect for the genre. As audacious as this may sound, this is what Chivalry wanted to be but never pulled off imo.

If you read this and plan on buying it, play as a built alpha who uses two handed weapons and assert your dominance on anyone you may come in contact with.

Also don't forget to dance and shake your mouse up and down really aggressively, it looks really funny

The game has really interesting and unique features, such as the helicopter transportation and global inventory, but there's not much else redeeming about it.

First, the PVP has inherent flaws. At the point of this review, you can spam your heal button when you're mid fight and shooting at someone and heal up so quickly that you can be nearly invincible. On top of this, ranged combat is nearly impossible because most of the guns have a ton of recoil. If you manage to somehow find a sniper, then you may be fine for ranged combat, but otherwise you should avoid it.

Second, the robots are really bad at the moment. If you're in a high risk area with a lot of loot, there are way too many to handle, and even then, they respawn right next to you as if the game doesn't even know you're there.

Third, the animations and sounds need a complete revamp. When crouching, there is no footsteps. When in the forest, you'll hear the same ambient sounds over and over again. When in an empty city, it is literally completely silent because there's no ambient noise UNLESS you're in the forest. The gun sounds sound pretty bad; you can't hear suppressed shots at all and even if the gun is unsuppressed the gun sounds are relatively quiet. As far as animations go, I think that they're really badly clunky and they feel really awkward to play with, but the movement is pretty responsive so it's not that big of a deal if you're picky about that.

One of my biggest gripes aside from the previously mentioned ones is a little more personal: I don't like the HUD much. It feels like it was slapped together last second.

This game has really really great potential, but at this point it really isn't worth $20. I love the new innovative ways they improve cross-map mobility and added interesting items like drones that can change your approach to a fight completely, but it just simply isn't redeeming enough.

Way better than Fallout 4. I would rather be able to play fallout 3, but it's way less stable then NV. Honestly the best Fallout game I've played.
