edit: In the three years since I first posted this review Stoneshard has become one of my all time 'comfort' games that I come back to again and again.

there's been a huge amount of content added and with the most recent update, the game feels like it is a finished state, although there is still content being added! /edit

Really nice blend of roguelike and RPG elements with high quality art and game design. There's a limited amount of content right now and I'm eager for the next update but at this point I'd say I've already gotten my money's worth.

Fantastic game. The gameplay is tense and suspenseful, the visuals and atmosphere are great, but what impressed me the most is the way the game breaks new ground in terms of stealth games. The developers have taken a bunch of familiar mechanics and combined them in such a way that it does something entirely new. I rate it up there with Dwarf Fortress and Minecraft as one of those games that manages to carve out a new genre.

Great concept, lot of potential, but needs a lot of work.

I know the developer said this was aimed at the casual gamer, but I think with more features it'd be a truly stand out game. Current issues as I see them are:

Quite a few bugs
Repetitive enemies / maps
Not a lot of strategy needed for building / unit posistioning
Lack of overall narrative

With a bit more polish I'd change my review to recommended in a heartbeat.
