It's more than it looks like.

Listen to the warnings on the front.

This game is like a shyamalan movie. It's got a great trailer and a fun concept which the game itself doesn't deliver on. The gameplay boils down to Slender meets FNAF without the polish or novelty of either of the two things. Mama Tattletail seems to show up whenever she feels like and just kinda teleports around the house (sometimes boxing you in completely), and while the atmosphere and buildup for Mama is actually sorta cool, the jumpscare is weak. Checkpointing is frequent enough until the final night, but honestly I was more stressed trying to find all the eggs than by any of the objectives in the game, and it took me about 90 minutes to finish the game with all the eggs collected (still missing 2 cheevos but pretty well completed).

In smaller details, the house is unfinished with walls that don't properly connect to other walls, the lighting is weird and objects seem to have a lot of lighting underneath them even in total darkness, and sound is the same through floors and walls.

The hardest part here is saying what I would do differently. I think the main issue is that I don't know why I'm carrying the Tattletail doll around my house at night other than that's what I need to do to progress the plot. The game has given me no real reason to be invested up. The final act was kinda cool but it came out of nowhere and I feel like it could have done with some leadup. As it stands, the game feels like a collection of bad horror game tropes slapped together with a couple fun characters.
