It's been said quite a bit already: Space Marine 2 is a fun throwback to a particular era in gaming, back when shooters were still king and the machismo was cranked to 11. While somewhat primitive in its moment-to-moment gameplay, the loop it offers is genuinely satisfying - though, I'd recommend it be played with friends, for sure.

The visuals and setpieces present the 3 (as of writing) worlds with a grand scale. As a Warhammer fan, it's cool to see some of the battles happening in the background and surrounding each setpiece. Even if you aren't a Warhammer fan, there's no denying how good it looks and how well the devs create a bombastic, gritty atmosphere.

Mileage my vary, depending on if you enjoy a more barebones style of game with a fun, but somewhat one-note gameplay loop. I've enjoyed doing just about everything I could in the game up to this point, prior to some major content releases that are planned. And I do plan on jumping back in once that content is released.

As of writing, the multiplayer PvP mode is easily the weakest part of the game, feeling more like an obligation to be included than a vital and essential part of the game.
