Duke Nukem 3D and Hotline Miami had a baby, and it's beautiful.

I'm thinking I'm about two thirds of the way through the game on my first playthrough on Hardcore mode and so far I've enjoyed it very much and would recommend it. I honestly think RE7 was an absolute masterpiece and far scarier compared to this game; I think a Louisana bayou was a much better setting in terms of horror atmosphere than Eastern Europe, but this one is still very fun and does have some genuinely scary moments. Other than that all the characters are very interesting and the graphics are superb despite my PC being below minimum requirements (AMD FX-9590 and Radeon RX 480).

I was really looking forward to playing this game but it just feels incomplete. There are bugs such as the barebones tutorial restarting every time I load my game. Navigating the world is very difficult and waypoints do not seem very helpful. The AI is very lacking and, as far as I know, the only way to get them onboard your vessel, even if they are in good health, is to literally pick them up and throw them into a chair. There doesn't seem to be much in the line of sound and no real ambiance outside of rain so the game just feels very bland. It has a lot of promise but I just don't think it is worth the asking price.

This game is very much like Banished, and if you enjoyed Banished you will enjoy this game.
Normally I actually would recommend Banished over this game but the developer for Banished has no interest in any further development of it whereas the developers of Kingdoms and Castles are very enthusiastic about their game so I expected this game will only get exponentially better with time. I say KaC is very much worth the asking price and our support.

So far I've beat the game twice with my bacteria H1V3 and my virus Herpasyphlaids. Unfortunately my fungus "Bungus Fungus" was erraticated before it could infect Greenland.

I find this game is terrifying in a profound way; it reveals just how vulnerable we as a species are, but despite that I really enjoy this game and it is deceptively difficult. There are a variety of pathogens and each type has a different abilities evolution tree. For example; fungus is difficult to spread so you'll have to be clever to get it to spread, whereas viruses spread very rapidly but also mutate very rapidly and you could easily end up on the WHO watchlist if you don't keep the mutations under control and your virus will have been eradicated before it can kill everyone, or worse; it kills everyone but fails to infect Greenland leaving a small population of healthy people to repopulate the earth.

Early Access Review
I can't remember the last time I was this enamored by a video game. I love games that test your reflexes so this game would appeal to someone who likes AudioSurf, Ballistics (an extreme racing game from the 2000's), Star Wars: Pod Racer or Wipeout. The game play particularly reminds me of Wipeout with tracks that are all twisty and bendy that if you're not careful can really disorient you. Tracks can have alternative routes though there is something within this community that annoys me in that all the top leaderboard players skipped entire levels by flying off the track and skipping straight to the end.

One of my favorite features is Trackmorgify which generates semi-random tracks based on the seed you enter. Later I discovered that unlike most games which just hash an entire string and stuff it into a random number generator this one seems to break up your seed into parts and looks for certain keywords to guide the generator. That being said I double dog dare you to beat TeslasExtremeLongMarathonDoubleHelixCorkscrewDescentDownIntoScaryElectricShardDoom from beginning to end without skipping to the end.

The gameplay is simple but extreme and reminds me of classic arcade games.

I definately recommend this game!

Early Access Review
I've played a lot of "Open World Survival" early access games but this game truly defines the genre and all the others pale in comparison. There are no monsters, aliens or zombies but just you and the unforgiving wilderness and the animals that inhabit it, and so far I've died 4 times from; hypothermia, exhaustion, dehydration and a wolf attack, but yet I find myself wanting to play again to see how long I can survive the brutality of the Canadian wilderness and with each attempt I learn more about how to survive longer the next attempt.

The atmosphere and presentation is amazing as to how your player character reacts to injury or severe weather where in the most extreme circumstances you may behind to stumble as the camera fades in and out or experience tunnel vision, I must say that I've never played a game that made me feel like I was actually dying a slow painful death. I especially like the sound of the howling wind of the blizzard taunting me when inside shelter.

This game had been on my wish list for a long time while I waited for it to go on sale but that is my only regret because I waited so long to get this game because I would have loved to seen it grow during its early access period which is soon to end but I also can't wait to play the first episode of the story mode!

In a nutshell this game is the video game of one of my favorite movies; the 1953 John Wayne film "Island in the Sky".

I give it two frost bitten thumbs up!
