It's not bad game to play starting out and for it's price of $10 USD, I do think you can get your moneys worth out of it. However, the longer you play and the more stuff you unlock, a lot of the items are meh and most builds that would be fun to do don't work. Or they WOULD work, if the enemy scaling didn't spike at points and made your damage moot. And unless you do META builds, good luck beating the boss or getting any where close to the tier 3 level on whatever map you are on.

There are better reviewers and such to address the issues the game has so TLDR: Game fun for early start, most builds could be fun but enemy scaling gate keeps you, and meta builds are the only way to progress/win against the Final BOSS.

Early Access Review
The recent big update that came out today, March 7th, has finally addressed the Water Decay with it no longer decaying real time and made instead into a currency to gain access to certain areas/better access points. This along with a lot of QoL improvements from enemy AI detection, looting, and shooting feedback. This update has really made the game a lot more fun and has me wanting to come back.

Is this worth the $30(currently $23.99 as a sale) price tag? Kinda, but it still is a bit more niche than most other Extraction Shooters. PvE only is a big draw, along with some amazing maps that feel like you are walking inside of a concept art piece. The atmosphere is also fantastic, hearing radio chatter of enemy soldiers, the gunfire and explosions as the exchange fire with one another is just *chefs kiss*. However, it still has a few bugs from terrain popping in right next to you, game freezes here and there trying to load in parts of the map, especially if you have to cross into a fire fight between factions.

If you and some pals are looking to tryout, the game does have a Demo as well so that should also help ya decide.

TLDR: Great update, worth getting back in if you still have it in ya library. Try Demo first if on the fence.

As of now, it is not worth getting and that is even on discount. They recently, as of 06/16/24, have once again nerfed the South American countries. First time they did it, it was understandable, Argentina and Brazil did have a chance to snowball pretty quickly and be a major threat. Second time was questionable, they weren't really OP but they did have some ways of being really strong but whatever I guess. Now they are just plain bad, what buffs you get are laughable compared to other majors and you can't even be competitive against even some MINOR nations. Like seriously Paradox, what was the point of this DLC if they are just as bad, if not worse, then they were before it?

TLDR: DO NOT BUY, EVEN ON SALE.

SONY has walked back the changes, showing that bullying super corpos is always morally correct. Great job Helldivers!

Does not belong in Sandstorm at all NWI, remove it. You just had a contest and a poll to see what the community wants for cosmetics for Sandstorm and this is what we get? Ignoring your own policy of what is acceptable to bring into Sandstorm that quickly, just after how great you did with Exodus? Shameful NWI, I hope this gets changed.

Probably one of the best Co-Op FPS out there, right up there with Left4Dead and Killing Floor series. Now if you prefer to play solo, you can with a robot helper that you can modify. That being said, it is more geared towards 4 player Co-Op, some missions will feel more harder with the lack of another player there. With the amount of content this game has, including endgame content, the price of $30 is cheap (will update if price changes). Now there is one thing that should be noted: If you don't like grindy type of games this game may turn you off. But compared to other games, this game doesn't make it a chore or feel repetitive. All of the levels that you go into are randomly generated with a unique Biome that has its own hazards. All in all it is a fun game that, if you and 3 friends are looking for a Co-Op shooter, I would recommend.

What I can say about this game right now as of 11/13/2017 is that its ok. I got this game about a year ago when it went on sale. The game isn't what most wanted it to be, a Ghost Recon game but instead some Special Agent guys with cool tech in a gang war ridden NY. It is more of a Shooter MMO like Destiny, were the enemies have health bars and weapons are divided in differents roles like DPS, Spread, and etc. There are other reviews that can get more in depth with this game but I am here to give ya the quick gist of this game. So here it is:

-Dark Zone/PVP: With PVP its kinda meh, in my opinion, as everyone mostly uses the best DPS Assualt Rifle or SMG and just uses that. The Dark Zone is where most of the PvP happens and so it can get pretty nasty in there. The DZ does have NPC enemies that lurk there as well as bosses that offer (sometimes) better loot than those outside of the DZ. Now when you do obtain loot from the DZ you have to find a extraction point so a Helio can come in and recover them. However to extract the loot, you may have to go through players. Sometimes they may be like you and just want to kill the boss, get the loot, extract the loot, and get the hell out of dogde. But most of the time it will be players fighting it out with each other for DZ Points so they can get weapons off the vendors that stand next to the entrances to the Dark Zone. The vendors do offer some niffty stuff from time to time so it can be worth it to go around and gun down other players. The one upside right now though is the player count of this game is kinda low so extracting loot is more likely to go as plan.

PvE/Raids: Most of the PvE can be done solo as long as ya have the right equimpment and skills ready. There are a few Raids that are more vavorable to parties than solo players. As I mentioned in the above paragraph about players, getting into a raid party is a roll of the dice; sometimes it will be instant, other times it will be you twirling your guy or gal around for mintues on end. The Underground and Survival DLC adds more to the PvE player groups. The Survival DLC is basically Battlegrounds but with players randomly spawning in random safe houses across Manhatten. All player are infected with a disease that will kill them in a hour, no winter clothes, a pistol with a clip of ammo, enemy gangs roaming and with a blizzarad raging outside. The objective is to get to the DZ to get the cure and extract with the cure. There are two versions of this Survival mode, PvE and PvP. PvE is the most played as other players cannot kill each other directly. However you can quickly loot all the food, water, meds, and equipment before others can withc indriectly does kill them. Underground is basically build your own adventure but in the subways, sewers, and underground malls of NY. You can increase difficutly for better rewards but if you die during your run, you get sent back to the Underground HQ and have to start a whole new one that will be different from the preivous one.

All in all, its a fun game with a Dev team that is still around and willing to keep this game alive. I will say that you should wait until this game goes on sale, paying $50 or $90 is a bit of a waste. Its fun game but not at its current price tag. If you can, buy the season pass (as much as I hate typing that) as it will pay for its self with the DLC Underground and Survival. They do updates that are free and add a few changes here and there but sadly most of the good stuff is in the DLC. They do have microtransactions but its all cosmetic stuff so to me its fine.

I played a small bit but it was fun. Don't like paying money for skins? Then scroll on down to the workshop and *gasp* there are free ones there.
