The base game is just about fine but to get the HOI experience you are required to buy too many dlcs

Xen is so diverse and fascinating that it made me wish for a half life two version of xen. Some parts get tedious but I think that was because I played source half life to death. The multiplayer is a nice surprise resembling quake in the nature of its gameplay.

One thing to improve is some part need to have the goal laid clearer for me as a player. For example the reactor part was quite self explanatory and even if not, the scientist explained what must be done. Some parts at the end require such assistance, maybe a head piece so a scientist can guide gordon? an automatic AI in the expedition parts of xen? or a tablet that has transcripts and goals... Even the possibility of having a small toggleable arrow might help clear the confusion in some place. Or make it part of the game like the lighter in metro2033.
Of course this game is a remake of an old game but I expect it to be to 2020 standard in hand holding as well... One can't expect to create a system shock and not give any modern tool to deal with it. The average player shouldn't have to open a walkthrough to a level, not even once. I needed a walkthrough in three places in the game.

Its reminds me why I hate capitalism.

In a more sensible manner. I like the win conditions and the depth gadgets had to the game. But since gadgets became p2w in the tournaments there is no point in playing this. (Before you got 5 gadegets for free which added interest and strategy). Now the tournaments are uneven as one can pay gold to get more re-rolls or roll doubles.
On the other hand it's a free game and the profits have to be made somewhere. Steer away from this cash grab.

Imagine analyzing graphs and charts for a video game

The game gave me quite a unique experience I enjoyed. Rather than the normal: "super soldier guy" we get a simple man put in a harsh position. As the game progresses more details are revealed. The game has a mysterious sense to it.

Because I know a little bit of russian I decided to put the language to that one. The immersion I felt was suprisingly overwhelming. From the russian drunk singing merrily to the old soviet army hym preparing to fight. The world feels also so much alive, kids who are interested about the outside world, commies threating to shoot whoever disbands their position. Again, you are a simple guy and the world doesn't revolve only around you. The characters don't feel too generic and some are quite memorable.

As a survival-horror like game iot rewards you more for going stealthly. Nevertheless the game also gives you tools to go guns blasing. This is a game I'm sure I'll return to complete again one day.

Story and world beulding: 10/10
Gameplay and gunplay: 8/10
Graphics: 7/10

The mix between close and long combat creates scenarios which I haven't encountered or enjoyed encountering as much as here. Also there are so many good combos for weaponry to go for that give this game the diversity any shooter needs. I recommend anyone who likes shooters and intense combat to give this game a try
