Danganronpa is your typical visual novel game, but with an additional game play mechanic which places you as an investigator, collecting clues to solve a high-stakes murder mystery. The courtroom set pieces can be exciting at times, with surprising twists, and that is essentially the best part of the gaming experience. At center stage is the story telling, which is refreshingly great, and will be the main driving force pushing you chapter to chapter.

However, there are a few issues. Dated graphics and clunky controls was a bit of an disappointment right at the start. Further into the story, you'll get introduced to the courtroom dialog and various mini-games part of the drama. The core shooting mechanic is interesting, but most of the time it feels like it's gimmicky game play that simply gets in the way of the storytelling. The mini-games are even worse and simply not fun. There is one mini-game however that is actually good, which involves putting the murder timeline together like a comic book. I also want to point out if you're playing a normal game, there isn't any penalty for failure, which makes the high-stakes pointless.

Danganronpa has built up somewhat of a cult following, and is considered a classic visual novel to some, which is why I gave it a shot. But if you ask me, you might be better off playing something else for the price you pay.

Cute anime girls, okay, lets play.
Realise you're playing an intense psychological horror that pushes the boundaries of what visual novels can do.
10/10 would write poetry again.

Still finding surprises in this absolutely beautiful and absorbing puzzle walking simulator. A meditative and brain-tickling experience, that won't be everyones cup of tea, but has huge appeal for people like me.

Hands down, best survival game I've ever played.
Looking forward to more updates to improve issues with draw distance, which is really the only issue I have.
Otherwise, don't read anything, don't watch anything, just buy this and play it!

A few hours in and my experience of Thumper turned from pure delight to pure horror, as I desperately attempt to avoid mind-bending obstacles at light speed, while being bludgeoned with frantic industrial music. And I loved it!

Rule as a tyrant, marry your siblings, and kill your relatives. It doesn't get better than this!

There is so much to rave about Life is Strange that it almost feels too cruel to talk about it's issues. But you would feel that way because you know at it's heart, it's an excellent story-driven game.

Clearly a symptom of rushed development, the main issue I had was bad lip syching. After a while you will forget about it, but every now and again it can break you out of suspension. During one emotional scene on episode 5, Max's lips didn't even move during her dialog. It's a shame, since the voice acting is generally top notch.

At times it feels like the game is tries hard to elicit emotions from you when you have none to give, and some scenes are just plain tiresome and even boring.

But despite all of this and an awkward start, LIS glows, like warm embers on a cold winter night. In those fantastic moments, LIS hits you hard and surprises in many good ways. Chloe is a perfect balance to Max's quiet attitude and it is clear the writers have paid special attention to their relationship. All this is set against a beautifully rendered world, splashed with warm light and vivid color. The music is quiet and unobtrusive, but sets the mood very well. The choices you make really have an impact on people you grow to care for, and thanks to the time-travel mechanic, you can really feel like an everyday super hero ... or heroine.

I get the sense this type of game won't be a good experience for everyone, and could possibly be better suited for a certain crowd. But nonethless, I recommend you pick this title up if you've enjoyed any of Telltale's similar games. It's right up there as one of the best in it's genre.
