A fun game that makes you feel like a hacker.

The internal logic of the game is really good, and the game does offer some possibility of mastery.

The pacing is actually EXCELLENT and something that a lot of games like this get wrong: it teaches the player the mechanics and scales up the difficulty in a really nice way.

For people unfamiliar with computers and UNIX systems, this is a great entryway into learning the basics of navigation, and also mimics some of the conceptual problemsolving skills one needs to be a hacker.

There were times that I was overthinking problems, and most of the time the game simply requires you to "search and find the answer" rather than figure out a more complex sollution, though there are a couple of paths in the game that allows you to flex your skills and challenges you if you're up to it.

The story and writing is trying to punch above its weight but it serves its purpose. Sometimes it got a chuckle out of me, and it was fun to dig through files and find some silly conversations. But its a tad cliche, even for 2013. The plot allows you to live out the fantasy within the limitations and rules of the game mechanics, so its effective but not groundbreaking.

Overall the best OS-simulator "hacker" game I've played so far.
