Before I start, I just wanted to tell you that the predecessor of Squad is a mod based on Battlefield 2 called Project Reality, it features ground combined arms combat, aerial warfare which includes helicopter and jets, and small portion of naval warfare. The overall ideology of this mod is to create a team-based tactical shooter game that looking towards to some degree of realism. I'm not gonna talk too much about PR here, this is just a peek on where Squad is heading to.

So let us go back to Squad. So far Squad only features infantry combat, ground light vehicles will be available within most likely a month, so my review will only focus on the infantry combat for now.

This game is all about tactical cooperation and sticking together as a SQUAD while obeying orders from your squad leader. It goes so far that not only it encourages you to stay with the squad, you will get penalites from being a lone wolf.

For example, not join a squad will limit your select-able kit to basic rifleman, dynamic role limitation system(or whatever it's actually called) allows you to choose from more kits progressively if certain number of players is in your squad and your team, and if you decided to go for getting the kits you want from other squad and quit then good for you, because the game will take away your kit at the moment you left and re-assign you with a "recruit" kit with the ammo you left before you quit the squad. Without a squad you can easily get pinned down and killed from enemy gun fire while no one can help you out.

This game binds players together so tie that even you don't know each other you can still play as a squad and win the game easily, and that's the whole point of realistic tactical shooter game isn't it?

Though it's only in Early Access with just infantry combat for a large scale FPS, and it does have many many incomplete and unpolished aspects (such as animation glitch, spawn glitch, FOB camping, etc.), irritating bugs exist here and there (medical reviving is buggy as fxxk which includes not properly located, teleporting fallen one to nowhere when getting them up, etc.) But it does find a well balance between realism and gameplay as its predecessor PR, you can't hide a shinning gem like Squad from anything.

This may sound a little like ridicule, but I'm glad they really fixed some issues that's being around many many years.

I'll focus on the recent updates which overhauled the infantry protection system and fatigue system. For the first time in almost 10 years of this series, they finally achieved their 2 goals:

1. headshot from a 7.62 FMJ can take one's life away.(not only this, 9mm pistol round from close distance can kill one too!)
2. a man can know when they're tired enough to run a foot or two more.

Two basic fundamental concept of any true FPS shooting game, they finally manage to put them there any community mod to buff anything anymore after nearly a decade.

Keep in mind I'm not criticizing any of this is being too late or gone wrong, I'm recommanding the game here. I can't be pround of such content being there so late, but I do glad that they finishized the big big gameplay element and put it out there after 2 years since AA3 came out.

BI proved that nothing can't be fixed or done even for a game that's 2 years old (for a game that last more than a year nowadays, it is more that the word "awesome")

9.1/10, one of my top recommanded simulation games of all time (not the top one, but definitely in top 3 :D )
