Lots of depth in a very repeatable very fun game. I've had a blast throwing myself at the wall in challenges and higher stake level decks trying to make different strategies stick and seeing what works. Balatro is at it's best when you're doing your best to break it.

Unfortunately after about 9 hours of struggling with this game I've come to a few conclusions:

1) the performance is absolutely abysmal even on a solid computer. The experimental build helps a bit but I'm still not able to hold higher than 80fps at 1080p on an i5 6600k/GTX 1070 when games that are more visually impressive are capable of 120+FPS at the same specs.

2) a lot of advertised features in prerelease press material are simply not there, whether it's the developer being on record saying the game would have multiplayer, or that there would be epic space battles, or even the screen shots of awesome scenery drawing when the game simply doesn't look that good in reality. It's frustrating to see this game sink so far from where it was since it had so much potential.

I decided to give the game chance past the Steam Refund window, thinking it would potentially be supported by the developers and bugs and inefficiencies would be worked out, but in reality I've logged in to play an hour or two since my initial efforts and performance has been poor enough to make me choose to play other games.
