POTHEAD MANIFESTO

A pothead is not just someone who smokes. A pothead knows:

Any problem can be solved with a little green.

Any activity is infinitely better while stoned.

Cannabis is not escapism—it’s emotional calibration. Emotion clouds thought; suppression of excess emotion brings clarity.

With a calm mind, the door opens. Mushrooms, DMT—these are keys. They destroy the ego, reveal the mind’s eye, show what’s always been there.

We are all sheep. Conformity is everywhere. But a stoned mind sees the fences. A psychedelically awakened mind leaps over them.

Think. Feel less. See more. Wake up.
WHY CANNABIS WAS BANNED
Updated:
Why Governments Make Minds “Illegal”

Control Over Consciousness – Governments thrive on predictability. A stoned or psychedelically awakened mind questions authority, norms, and narratives. Emotional regulation and ego dissolution make individuals less susceptible to fear, propaganda, or blind obedience. A population thinking clearly is harder to herd.

Disruption of the Status Quo – Cannabis and psychedelics can foster creativity, critical thinking, and alternative lifestyles. People who explore beyond prescribed societal roles may challenge economic, political, or social systems. Power structures resist this.

Fear of Independence – When you regulate your emotions and expand your mind, you rely less on external validation, consumer culture, and state narratives. Independent thought threatens centralized control.

Economic Motivation – Keeping substances illegal fuels industries: law enforcement, prisons, pharmaceutical replacements, and surveillance. Prohibition creates profit for the system while suppressing tools that could empower individuals.

Social Compliance – Governments often frame legality as “protection.” In reality, controlling what you consume—what you put in your body—dictates your mental landscape. Illegal = discouraged = obedient.

In short: governments make cannabis illegal not because it’s inherently dangerous, but because an emotionally stable, ego-lite, critically thinking population is harder to manipulate.___________
___________

OLD:
Cannabis — including hemp — was made illegal in 1937. The reasons had little to do with health or safety.

Instead, early laws were shaped by:
- Political pressure after alcohol prohibition ended
- Negative racial stereotypes used in media campaigns
- Industrial interests threatened by hemp (paper, textiles, plastics)

The American Medical Association opposed the ban, but it passed anyway. Science was ignored, and both marijuana and hemp were lumped together.

Today, we know cannabis has medical uses and economic value. Legalization is about evidence, not hype — and correcting outdated policy.

It's time the laws reflect the facts.

— 1. EARLY PROPAGANDA —
In the 1930s, media tycoon William Randolph Hearst ran stories linking cannabis to violence and madness. These were often racially charged, targeting Mexican immigrants and Black communities. The term “marijuana” was pushed to make the plant sound foreign and dangerous.

— 2. THE 1937 MARIHUANA TAX ACT —
This law effectively banned cannabis in the U.S. It required expensive licensing to grow, sell, or possess — and none were granted. Industrial hemp was included, even though it contains no THC.

— 3. INDUSTRIAL COMPETITION —
Hemp threatened several industries:
- DuPont had just patented nylon, a synthetic fiber
- Hearst owned timber used for paper — hemp paper was a risk
- The oil and chemical sectors didn’t want bio-based products

— 4. ANSLINGER’S WAR —
Harry Anslinger, head of the Federal Bureau of Narcotics, needed a new target post-Prohibition. He claimed cannabis caused insanity and crime, despite lack of evidence. He dismissed doctors who disagreed and used fear to expand his agency’s power.

— 5. MEDICAL OPPOSITION IGNORED —
The American Medical Association testified against the ban. They noted cannabis had medical value and that the bill was rushed. Their warning was ignored.

— 6. CRIMINALIZATION & DISPARITY —
Decades of harsh drug laws followed, especially in the 1970s under Nixon's "War on Drugs." Cannabis-related arrests disproportionately impacted minorities. People were jailed for possession while public support for reform grew.

— 7. MODERN SCIENCE & REFORM —
Today, research confirms cannabis can help with:
- Chronic pain
- Epilepsy
- Anxiety, PTSD
- Appetite loss in cancer/HIV patients

Dozens of countries and U.S. states now allow medical or recreational use. Industrial hemp is legal again in the U.S. (2018 Farm Bill).

— 8. ECONOMIC IMPACT —
Legal cannabis creates:
- Billions in tax revenue
- Tens of thousands of jobs
- Safer, regulated products

— 9. THE BIG PICTURE —
The original ban wasn’t based on science. It was based on fear, misinformation, and corporate influence. Legalization is not about promoting drug use — it’s about basing laws on facts, not fear.
