Even though this game has a reputation of being lackluster compared to the previous game, I think it's still worth playing. there's some moments that pop out such as the introduction, the area of Fontaine's Futuristics, Fontaine's Plasmid Research & Development, Outer Perephone and Inner Perephone as they seem to add a side of Rapture that hadn't been covered before, since up until this point it had just been reusing similar assests from Bioshock 1.

But from that point on it introduced tougher enemies, the plasmid research place being creepy with experiment stuff, the final plasmid you get in the last hour of the game and the atmosphere that what makes Bioshock, Bioshock.
The gameplay feels very tight, it's more focused on action as you'll be fighting hordes of enemies and Big Daddies pretty regularly that can make it pretty tough and frustrating. But if you play it right and act smart you'll find a way around it, whether it be placing mini-turrets, hack a camera or place mines around an area.

Unfortunetly the game kind of drags and can become quite annoying. there was several times where i found myself taking out a Big Daddy to get a Little Sister then to have a horde of enemies attack while a Little Sister would retrieve adam leaving myself quite low on ammo which would also leave you on low health and plasmids. Then it would follow up with a fight with a Big Sister which you sometimes barely get to scrape by. You get get rewarded quite well after beating the big sisters but it felt more like a chore and there's even an entire level that forces you to get 3 little sisters before you move on to the next part.

The story also very mixed, to sum the story up: You play as Delta a prototype big daddy who gets seperated from his little sister by Sofia Lamb, Lamb makes him shoot himself since your little sister (Elenor) has some importance to Lamb. Myseriously Delta somehow comes back to life 10 years later and now you must find your little sister who has grown older and reunite with her. The plot isnt as complicated as the previous game, yes you do get a lot more detail through the audio diaries also explaining what's been happening over the 10 years. But the main antagonists reasons (Sofia Lamb) are kinda dumb and don't really make much sense. I don't really want to spoil anything so you'll have to take my word on it as a lot of Sofia Lamb's reasoning is explained at the latter half of the game. Which kinda left me either ignoring the story, forgetting about it or it's just trying to be too smart. Also this remaster of the game seemed to crash quite a bit and i'm not sure why which made me frequently spam save which kind of ruined a bit of the game for me.

Apparently the Minerva's Den DLC is lot better than the main campaign in terms of story but I have yet to play it.

Overall, I think it's a decent experience that has some moments that make it pop out, but it's at the start, some bits in the middle and towards the end leaving this middle area to be quite bland, dull and slow. There's some parts that feel a bit more of the same from the first Bioshock but I still enjoyed my time with the game, not as much as the first but I'd still recommend it, but if only you're quite a big fan of the Bioshock series and if it's on sale.
It's a decent game with flaws.
