I've re-visited the game and played a bit before the update and my view changed qutie a bit.
There are quite a few problems, in the end I think the game on its own is not that awful.
Its still probably one of the most casual MMOs there is, and if you are looking for fallout 4 multi player this is p much exactly what you could expect, with some coop content but mostly fetch quests with ocasional sillyness.

I still belive the game doesn't respect your time. Statistically it will still take you around 29k hours if you were to min max and not include daily chances at scrip, to get all the rolls needed for a perfect set of secret service armor, but you do not need perfect rolls. In fact, I would argue there are some builds that can be effective with the lowest investment possible.

If you are a new player finding yourself in a struggle on what to pick, I recommend using heavy guns in power armor, its a lot of fun, you get a lot of power and the build itself is low maitenance, only requiring a cheap guaranteed drop weapon from an event and a set of power armor.

If you find yourself wanting to aim for absolute perfection, vats commando is what you will look forward to.

Economy in this game is messy, and trading can get miserable, but you dont need the perfect gear right away. And I think thats okay. Theres surprisingly lots of ways to get rich, and at the end of the day there are many consumables reminding you that having perfect gear can be the goal, but you do not need to suffer trying to get it.

But before that , if you decide to buy the game be sure to enjoy your early game.
