I have both Ori games in my library but haven't actually played the first one. This game was alright but I think I have had my fill in the 14 or so hours I actually played this for and I have no desire to play the first one right now. The story is not good and will not make you cry despite what you might have heard. It is very shallow and takes itself way too seriously. Unlike Hollow Knight, the world lacks depth and cohesion and feels designed solely for the player to mess around in. The game is beautiful but the visuals are so overwhelming and Ori is so tiny sometimes you cannot see your character and they die. I died during an escape sequence and a boss fight because the particle effects and cinematic camera turned my character into a literal dot - a white dot on a snowy incline.

The core gameplay is pretty fun. The combat with the sword is satisfying but the combat abilities are all pretty useless. Why set an enemy on fire when just spamming attack with the sword does the trick? Even the combat shrines where you do combat trials for ability slots never has more than 4 enemies on screen. Ori's sword can easily stagger every enemy except the ones with shields who make you switch to your hammer for 3 seconds. The bow does no damage and fire, shuriken etc are just not as satisfying as the basic sword. All these abilities feel like they were added in because a committee forced the developers to.

Ori is not a challenging or frustrating game. The game autosaves every minute and so there is no tension at all. You literally cannot lose progress but you might die a lot during some of the platforming sections because the controls and Ori are both very floaty.

The Moki are adorable though. Easily the most likeable characters in the game. A lot of the side quests are engaging and well thought out and I actually wanted to complete them, which is rare. Overall, this is a solid 7/10.

I bought this for less than 2 dollars, If you buy this for 2 dollars, it is definitely worth it but for anything higher than a fiver, no.

Still the best 3rd person shooter ever made. Its impossible for me to list all the things that's good about this game. The combat is slower than modern third person shooters but way more satisfying, its not very scary but it can get creepy sometimes. Just buy it. I bought it on sale but full price is still worth it.

Quantum break is a third person shooter with awful gunplay and a story that's pretty much a combination of Steins; gate and bad netflix junk food.

The gameplay consists of you shooting the same 4 enemy types and traversing the environment by holding W occasionally pressing Q to turn back time to solve a "puzzle". Its not really a puzzle as much as its an obstruction that serves only to lengthen the game and even then, the actual game is like 5 hours long with 4 hours of cutscenes. A 5 hour long game can be great if the gameplay is good but in Quantum break, it only exists because Remedy couldn't have released a movie or a tv show while pretending to work on a game. The traversing (which is just holding W and listening to dialogue) is more fun than the combat, that should tell you the state of combat in this game, its awful. The guns feel like they are shooting air and the enemies have a single animation for when they get hit. ONE ANIMATION, ONE!!!! regardless of the enemy type, the one exception is when you hit them with a shotgun, thats when they have 3 for some reason. There's upgrading in this game that's also absolutely pointless, you can safely ignore it. The game is also insultingly easy, I only died thrice through the entire game and that was on the final boss because the game takes away control of the camera during a crucial moment of flight to show you something that looks like red water.

The main story is also extremely derivative. it borrows heavily from Steins; gate and crime dramas, The TV show however, which focuses on side characters is very entertaining. Its easily the best part of Quantum break and I recommend you go on youtube and just watch that instead of sitting through this game.

Nioh is by far the worst soulslike I've played. The level design is awful, there's no sense of exploration because the levels are very linear, yes there's twisted paths but that's merely an illusion to convince you it matters which way you go. Its mission based instead of one connected world like Dark souls and the environments are bland and uninteresting and lack any flair to make up for the boring level design. There's no sense of discovery either because items are absolutely useless, you get a ton of loot from every enemy you kill but the only item that matters is the healing potions and its never fully explained how it works, unlike Dark souls you don't get a fixed amount of healing potions (elixirs) every time you die and respawn at a bonfire (shrines), sometimes you will have 4, sometimes 3, sometimes 0, then you offer all the useless loot at the shrine and it will give you more elixirs. There's also a way to get blessing which will increase the elixir drop rate but how to actually put points in these blessings is very unclear.

As for the combat, its much more complex than Dark souls and significantly less fun because of that. There's three stances low(fast). mid and high (heavy) and each stance can have its own special moves for different combinations. There's separate skill trees for every playstyle (ninja, magic and samurai) and every weapon has its little quirks that makes it advantageous against certain enemies. You can drain an enemy's ki(stamina) but half the time that's just a bad idea, just slash and dodge. There's also an ultimate move that slowly charges over time and once its full, you can go invulnerable with insane damage, you can actually beat every boss this way, it takes away at least 60 percent of their health bar which is necessary because the bosses are easy but maliciously unforgiving. Every boss has multiple one shot moves and you will die many times simply because the game hates you and not because you're bad. This approach to boss difficulty is definitely more inspired by Ninja gaiden than Dark souls. I do not appreciate it because all it does is frustrate you. The game isn't too hard other than boss battles however, because there's like 9 total enemy types, you will soon realise that despite all the complex combos its best played as if its Dark souls and the enemies are boring to fight anyway, they never surprise you, every enemy seems to have a basic 3 hit combo and ranged enemies fire with tracking projectiles disguised as arrows.

There's no sense of progression or accomplishment on a grander scale, its always "oh finally beat this boss lol". Every mission has a recommended level and there's side missions for you to grind these levels. The side missions are set on even worse maps than the story missions and generally involve loot collection or checklist gameplay. Its mindless grinding like Diablo but you can do it with a friend although that makes a game a bit too easy, you can try the twilight missions with a friend though, The story is pretty uninvolving and is mostly told through still images with chat boxes. Its not a reason to buy this game.

Nioh is a repetitive slog that's only fun for the first 10-15 hours and because it lacks the mystery, and the magical exploration of Dark souls, the repetition really shows. I don't recommend it. If you want a ninja dark souls, play Sekiro. Its 10x more fun.
