After sinking almost a hundred hours in this game, I dare say Civ 6 is definitely a good game, and I would definitely recommend it to any Civ fan or newcomer alike, even though there are aspects of this game which pales in comparison to Civ 5, which I have played a ton as well.

There are some new features introduced in this game which add depth to the gameplay and is a welcomed change to the franchise, but that being said, I firmly believe they can be tweaked to enhance the experience.

I really like the unstacking of cities, as it further emphasizes city placement, as well as district placement. This alone makes the game feel not only more realistic, but also more strategic. It also brings out uniqueness in each city, as each city may be focused on certain aspects, such as population, production, culture, science etc. I do hope they add in more district types in future patches or DLCs. I for one, hope to see a canal district perhaps, so that one does not have to settle a crappy city on top of a geographically strategic location, because frankly, most canal cities I have settled, be it in Civ 5 or 6, tend to be bad, with minimal resources(strategic or luxury) or tiles to work.

Religion is also enhanced in CIv 6, with theological combat being a thing now. It is definitely an improvement from Civ 5, and I really enjoy how pantheons do not get replaced by any sort of religion whatsoever. The increased numbers of beliefs is welcomed as well. Spreading religion is definitely more engaging in Civ 6 than in Civ 5, where in Civ 5, one just spams out missionaries or great prophets and try to convert another civ over. In Civ 6, it's still more or less the same thing, but at least one can attack or defend with the religious units.

The government system in Civ 6 is easily one of the best changes from Civ 5 in my opinion. The new government system just makes the policy tree in Civ 5 look bad. The ability to choose which government types to adopt, as well as choosing which policy to suit your current needs, is just awesome, to say the least.

However, there are still some glaring issues that I find slightly annoying.

The tech tree from Civ 5 is split into 2 in Civ 6, now we have both a science tree and a civic tree. I am not opposed to the idea of having two trees to work on, but I do find it slightly offseting that some techs or civics can be totally avoided. Not to mention the weird technological gap for units. For instance, the jump from knight to tank seems so weird, and makes units from the heavy cavalry kinda obsolete during the Industrial era, till you unlock the tech to upgrade to tanks, which I believe is in the Modern era. I do like to point out though that I like the Eureka feature, as it rewards players for achieving any sort of objectives, and they are mostly easy to accomplish.

On higher difficulties, it is kinda hard to maintain a good relationship with the AIs, and the AI seems easily triggered should one fail to co-operate with both their main agenda and their hidden agenda. In my Emperor game as Arabia, I was denounced by Egypt only a few turns after I met her, the reason being I have a weak military apparently, even though most of my units were either in Medival or Renaissance periods, whereas she has a truckload of her silly ancient era unique unit. Oh, and the fact that she pops onto my screen ever so often to tell me that I'm "not worthy to bask in her presence". Did it trigger the ♥♥♥♥ out of me, YES. AND also the fact that every civ thinks I'm a warmonger, when I was the one who got targeted for a declaration of war by the Azetcs, only for them to get massacred and subsequently wiped off the face of the planet in the end. Well, they started it, and I couldn't help it :( Also, while we're on the topic of AIs, they're still pretty dumb. The way they throw units at me is hilarious. The way they forward settle you with ♥♥♥♥♥♥ cities, not as hilarious, and freaking annoying.

There's also the auto-select unit feature which is pretty annoying. The amount of times I misclicked a unit's movement in this game is annoying, and it usually costs me a turn or two. And also a weird glitch with the joint war, whereby when you get targeted by one civ that you had met, and the other, by none other than... apparently yourself. Didn't know split personalities is a thing in Civ 6.

That being said, Civ 6 is still a really enjoyable game, and I am a firm believer that with a few patches and updates, it has the potential to become the best civ game to date.
