Took about 4 hours to complete the story and photograph every animal. Thought it was really cool that all the bird calls were realistic and that you could actually use them to find specific birds! Definitely found this game sweet and super chill. If you like the kind of games where you just run around and catalogue animals and complete little tasks, you'll like this

Really lovely game. Casual exploration mixed with collecting items is always a gameplay favorite of mine. I took my time exploring the island and finding everything there was to find, and completed the game in about four hours. A Short Hike has a calm, friendly atmosphere that just makes it feel good to play in much the same way Animal Crossing (which seems to be an influence on the design) does. I miss pixel graphics as a lot of games seem to move away from that style, but this had a beautiful style that made me nostalgic.

It's not particularly long, but I'm happy I heard about it and purchased it. I had a really nice evening getting lost on the island.

Super fun game with a cool concept and a fantastic soundtrack that I have listened to many times over. It was challenging at times, but it was in the sort of way where it was fun to keep trying again.

I admit I went into this game expecting it to be okay with some cool features, but nothing to write home about. I just finished it and felt compelled to leave only my second review ever (I think?) on Steam because it so exceeded my expectations. I got it on sale, but having played it now I would have paid full price and still been happy with it. I also absolutely recommend going in blind.

Just various thoughts:
-The game does a VERY effective job at making you care about the protagonist
-I really enjoyed the unique way the game presented many of its puzzles
-The story felt simple at first, but I was really into how how much it developed as I got farther into the game
-The soundtrack definitely really grew on me. It gives a really good atmosphere.
-The one thing I do wish were different is that it would have been nice if more of the side characters were given the opportunity to develop a little more.

It was short and sweet, and I will definitely remember this game fondly. I did cry at the very end. Kudos to the devs on a really great game.

If you like games with a big focus on exploration, this game is for you!!

Grow Home's objectives consit mostly of looking for various flora, fauna, and crystals, although it's possible to beat the game without pursuing any of those. The main goal is to grow the star plant up a certain height so you can harvest one of its seeds, but you'll get a lot more out of the game if you take the time to explore and pursue some of the achievements it has. I was able to do that and fill most of my database in about six hours (at a leisurely pace, which I would recommend for this game), but there's a post-gameplay mission as well that I have yet to complete.

This game is super cute with some really pretty lighting thanks to its night/day cycles and low-poly graphics that I really enjoyed. Overall it has a really nice aesthetic that I don't think I'll ever get tired of looking at. The controls for climing are really unique and help keep the game interesting, and its somewhat minimal story is, imo, perfect for the gameplay. Definitely scan some animals and vegetables in that teleporter and read the descriptions of them, because there's some funny writing to go along with it.

I had my eye on grow home for a while, and I'm so glad I bought it. It's absolutely worth the $8!!
