One of my high school friends who we recently got back in touch with had a baby a month or two ago. He sent over a photo of new baby ogling a giant pint of Guinness in the way only someone that Irish can. So I was telling him how Lou (the other owner of the company that owns Yarn Forward) went to a knitting show in Dublin and saw so many children in hideous acrylic handknit sweaters that she wanted to call child protective services on them. Their friend, knowing I would fully appreciate it, emailed over a better photo of the handknit sweater his family sent from Limerick for his wee daughter. I told him he’s lucky to have gotten wool, given the handknit acrylic nightmares Lou saw when she was in Ireland. And he replies with the funniest thing I read all week:

“Children in acrylic have mommies who don’t love them.”
So now I have been inspired to knit something hilarious for his daughter. Just wait. I’ve got the yarn, it’s all getting the top bit correct now.

Why are Japanese girls so hard to talk to? I'm polite. Each time I approach one, I say "konichiwa". I always ask them about their favourite anime before talking about my waifu. They're usually really shy (which is cute imo) but I hate that I have to be the one to constantly engage in conversations with them, and how they usually get disinterested because I'm a white guy. Yes, I get that it's awkward because of things like Pearl Harbor, but I don't hold it against them. They weren't in Unit 731, so why judge them for it? Why can't the himes just realize that I respect Japanese culture and that I really want to be part of it. I'm willing to marry a Japanese woman, adopt Japanese children and even live in Japan for the rest of my life.

1 kg batata(s)
noz moscada
2 dl natas
queijo ralado
sal
Pimenta

1. Coza as postas de bacalhau em leite.
2. Corte a cebola em rodelas finas e refogue em azeite até estar mole e transparente.
3. Escorra o bacalhau e desfaça-o em lascas e junte à cebolada. Deixe refogar lentamente. Polvilhe com farinha, mexa e regue com leite coado, onde cozeu antes o bacalhau. Deixe engrossar, mexendo de vez em quando.
4. Descasque e corte as batatas em cubos e frite em óleo não quente, de forma a deixá-las mais cozidas que fritas. Escorra as batatas e junte-as ao bacalhau. Tempere com sal, pimenta e noz-moscada.
5. Deite tudo num tabuleiro untado de ir ao forno, espalhe por cima as natas e polvilhe com queijo ralado. Leve ao forno até estar gratinado. Sirva com uma salada fresca de alface e tomate.
