Even though this game kinda lost me with the challenge content which ended up just feeling like doing the same thing over and over again, the main game is great. Awesome art style, a lot of charm, likeable characters and a story that is solid for the most part. I do wish that the combat was just a little deeper, but they do introduce new mechanics at good enough intervals that you have new things to look forward to all the way up until the end of the story.

Fantastic atmosphere that I totally believe is actually enhanced by the kinda terrible textures and extreme film grain. Sound work is very impressive and makes for some uncomfortable moments. Controls are super clunky and take some getting used to, but what would a horror game be without a bit of jank. Story is interesting enough and has a satisfying conclusion.

Comparing this to the other Fatal Frame offering on Steam, this one is definitely the spookier one, with more claustrophobic environments and more in-your-face scares. Combat is a bit more about timing, whereas in Maiden of Black Water it's more about getting the framing of the picture right. Either way, combat in both games is pretty easy no matter what difficulty setting you play on.

An actually good horror game, utilizing just the right amount of pressure and discomfort to create engaging gameplay without relying on stereotypical cheap scares. The story is a little open-ended and leaves things up to interpretation, but it's not so cryptic that you won't feel satisfied at the end. Music is killer and fits the setting perfectly and the game has just about the coolest ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ art direction I've ever seen.

Payday 3 is truly an embarrassment, failing to deliver in almost all aspects. From its bland presentation to its awfully average gameplay, it's just unremarkable. Other than some obvious surface level improvements in graphics and sound quality, and one more considerable upgrade in the stealth overhaul, most of PD3 is simply a step back from the previous entry. Payday 3's clean slate approach is actually kind of understandable considering how bloated Payday 2 is these days, but the problem is they just left out way too many essential features - things that Payday players were expecting would be in 3 because those features were in 2 (and some even in 1, lol), and things that are just generally expected to be in any online game, like proper voice and text chat.

I'm just very broadly scratching the surface here. I truly do not care enough about this game to write any more about it - details on why it sucks can easily be found elsewhere. I just wanted to add my vote to the pile with this review.

It is truly a shame that this game was kept in its poor launch state on PC for over four years. I can imagine many tried it, only to not get far because the port was just that sloppy. It was thankfully fixed in 2021, and I am personally very grateful for that because I very well might not have ever given it a chance otherwise.

Nier Automata is a part of Yoko Taro's Drakengard series, however it is so far disconnected from the trilogy that actually bears that name, and even the first Nier game (Nier Replicant), that it is a game that can be perfectly enjoyed on its own without any understanding of what came before it. Yes, Nier Replicant does kind of build the foundation for the world that you experience in Automata, but because Automata takes place so long after Replicant it isn't necessary to know the history of the world explained in the first game to enjoy the events of the sequel.

What makes this game so special is how incredibly unique it is. You simply experience stuff you've never seen in any other game before, and it all works very well to enhance the gameplay and storytelling. Nier Automata's story was truly made to be told in video game form. Also, I do have to mention the music: it is simply incredible.

Whatever negatives I can think of for this game are so minor compared to the overall awesome experience that they are not really worth elaborating on beyond a brief mention: side quests are generally not that interesting apart from a handful, combat is not very deep, and the visuals certainly are not terribly impressive even for 2017 standards. That really is, however, about all I can think of for my gripes with this game.

Goated game. Please play it.

Baldur's Gate 3 deserves all the praise that it's getting and is not one bit overrated. I really don't have a lot else to say about it. It's on a whole other level in terms of quality for its genre, and its popularity as a whole is a lovely slap in the face of corpos who desperately try to convince us that all we want is live service casinos.

Not exactly a bad game, however I would not recommend getting it. EA pulled the plug on support for this game just a few months after release, leaving the game in a questionable state. If this game ran well and controlled better I feel like it really could have been something. Just play Monster Hunter instead.

Borderline immersive sim, insane replay value, works great in co-op and mods take it to a completely new level. Simply one of the best tactical RPGs ever made.
