Overall great game. They've condensed a lot of good ideas into a fun title. The combat is the best part; very engaging, lots of skill and weapon synergies, and it's just general a great third-person shooter. Other than that:

Pros
- Skills are fun
- Classes are varied
- Movement is generally nice and smooth
- Runs well on my rig (3080)

Cons
- Levels are very linear
- Some movement bugs, like occasionally jumping out from cover when you hadn't intended to. Needs a bit of polish here
- Would benefit from additional enemy and weapon types

The story isn't superlative, but it's nowhere near as bad as some of the other loot shooters. I'm finding that reading the lore makes it much more interesting.

I think the game is great now, and has a lot of potential for the future. I hope the devs stick with it because it could be a the best loot shooter yet, given some time, expansions, and maybe a little quality of life TLC.

I bounced off the game initially, but have grown to love it. I bought it primarily for a time-friendly coop game (easy to jump on and off), but initially the act of getting into a game with other players was way too complex and way too poorly explained. The systems are extremely dense and in some cases the game uses language/descriptors that are not intuitive at all. My brother and I had a veteran walk us through loading up the game initially and getting into a simple story quest together. At some point, we all starting laughing in disbelief at how complicated the process is for a game with "World" in the title (for anyone interested in specifics, the cutscene issue is primarily what I'm referring to here).

That being said, once I made it through these dense systems I found a real gem. It's actually a testament to the quality of the game that in spite of these glaring flaws and dense systems, people quite clearly love it.

So my advice: if you're at all interested (even if you haven't played a MH game before), take the plunge. It's a great game with beautiful environments, nuanced character progression, meaningful loot and crafting, and incredible monster fights. BUT, be prepared to have a few "WTF" moments when learning how to get stuff done. It's pretty straightforward once you've progressed a little and adapt your brain to how the game works, so be patient and you'll get to the good stuff soon enough.

Great game if you like tactical battles (incl. use of environment) + interesting character builds + great story.

Definitely in top 5 RPGs for me, maybe top 3.
