Block N Load used to be a spectacular little FPS, and it became even more brilliant once it hit Free to Play. The game is simple, you build and protect a base, while also invading the enemy's to destroy their power core. After it became F2P, it got heavily optimised and a few design changes here and there made it really stand out from other competition.

Utilising an assortment of different tools and blocks, like jump pads, venom traps mines and turrets, the game was seasoned and spiced with hundreds of weird and hilarious base layouts to come up with (It was designed by the folks who made "Ace of Spades", if that gives you an idea of it).

Of equal importance to the game are the characters you can choose from. They range from snipers, to engineers, astronauts, robots, and k-pop stars. And all of them are a delight to play. Each character has a great toolkit to play with, and there's not a hero I can think of which left me bored stiff.

The game is free, of course, so they have to make their money somehow. They do this by making new characters cost a certain premium currency. I think the prices work out to about £4 odd per character, which, in my opinion, is fair enough. It's worth it for the entertainment you can get out of the game. The only other microtransactions consist of cosmetic skins, which you can't complain about to be fair.

Unfortunately, the community for Block N Load couldn't get any more dead and buried. Which is really, really sad. That being said, if you can get enough people together (8) for a game, it's far more than worth it. This game is spectacular, and offered a lot of entertainment back in its prime. So go for it!
