I would recommend this game, but I think it still needs work. It's Early Access, so I'm fine with that.

My biggest gripe all relates to belts. Especially belts at high tech tiers.

The amount of spaghetti belts you have to make start creating exponentially larger belt system layouts gets messy, slow, and confusing. This is compounded by the fact that the components and systems you want to make have 2-3 components in large quantities. The game gates the stack inserter several tiers higher than fast inserters, which means that you're using fast inserters (40 items a minute, single item at a time) for a huge portion of the middle game. What this means is that your factory starts sprawling pretty early, and you run out of room quickly. On top of that, you don't really have vertical belts, which promotes sprawling horizontally. There also isn't a fast+long inserter and it heavily restricts your production lines.

But, trying to belt properly in a flexibly expandable way using space to your advantage is annoying because you are inside a cave. You have limited space. In satisfactory, factorio, etc, you can go up high or wide quickly without thinking too hard. That's super annoying in this game. Digging sucks (can't get rid of the limestone and dirt fast enough, there's no garbage can, so I have to dump stuff into chests to keep digging) and I don't want to do it so it's not fun. It's a factory game, not click and hold on cave wall game. I don't want to dig out my own caves. It's boring and not engaging. (Tunneling, flattening, I don't mind. I like that part. But having to create a cave from scratch is slow and not the gameplay I want to do)

Also please let me dump Kindlevine extract/powder/whatever into something useful around steel tier. I have chests and chests of the stuff and there's nothing I need to dump it into for intermediates. I need the plant matter (several hundred times more) for intermediate stuff, but I do not want to just be constantly emptying my threshers. Accumulators don't count.

While creepy when played by yourself, it's more fun to play with friends. It's a fun collaborative survival game, though it is a little too easy, I guess. While the natives definitely ramp up well in difficulty, and I'm very impressed with their scaling/AI/techniques, the food isn't really too hard. Birds land right in front of you, and almost literally EXPLODE into feathers. Farming takes a very long time and isn't really worth the investments.

I don't really like the crafting system. They don't tell you how to use it. The hotkey system (you get 4 item slots) is confusing to find out how to use and they shoehorned it into the crafting page.

I do think the crafting screen itself is very cool. It's nice seeing all the stuff "physically" laid out, and adding it to the crafting area, then getting your crafted item into your bag all in the same screen. I am just not a fan of how it doesn't really give you a guide for what you could make without a wiki tab being open.

That's kind of the overall problem too, that it doesn't tell you what you can do naturally. Going to a wiki mid-game sucks. I can accept going to it every so often just because complicated things are complicated, but there's just almost nothing you can learn by playing the game. An in-game crafting guide, like you get when building something, would be a huge help.

Building is OK. It's nice seeing the models get filled in as you add resources, and it's satisfying completing buildings because the amount of effort required is just right for what you build.

Overall, it doesn't feel quite done. But I liked playing it. I haven't progressed through the story much.

I liked this game, it was a very refreshingly deep DnD RPG game and I definitely thought the combat system was well-ported. I think the voice acting is good and I thought the character animations were interesting enough that I didn't think it was like 4 idle animations and a miss-synced speech system. I like the story but I have a gripe below.

I like how some things are simplified: It straight up tells you the damage you're going to do when hovering over items in the inventory (though it seems they forgot/didn't bother to implement an actual weight system. Dice rolls (even though I think it's a system that needs improvement) just tell you what number you need to hit instead of making you do the math on the base stat, DC, etc.

The combat is good. I don't really have any problems with it, but I think resting and camping are too "easy" to use and that should be reworked.

My issues: I'm a little taken aback at just how much content you can /miss/ with the wrong ability scores. It feels like if you don't have a 16 in WIS or CHA your character is HOSED. Also dice rolls for skill checks with a D20 feel kind of... stupid? in a game where quickloading and quicksaving is a thing. That should be reworked, alongside the whole Camp system. I apparently missed two whole characters... just... because I rolled poorly? It feels crappy knowing I just missed out on stuff because of RNG. I'd prefer a skill check system that relies on the player meeting minimum stats, though I recognize it probably won't happen, because this is a "DnD game" and it has to have "real DnD mechanics". I also don't like how you can't switch to characters with better stats in a conversation, you basically commit a character to doing all the conversation checks when you click on the NPC.

I get replayability for different characters but it took 25 hours on the first chapter. I don't have that kind of time. It would also suck basically metagaming the conversations with the "correct" character so the skill checks are easier.

Sidenote: DEVS. IF YOU ARE GOING TO INCLUDE A STORY ELEMENT EARLY ON THAT SAYS "YOU'RE SCREWED IF YOU DON'T SOLVE THIS PROBLEM RIGHT NOW AND HURRY HURRY HURRY" AND THEN KEEP THE DnD MECHANICS FOR LONG RESTS FOR HEALING AND SPELL SLOT RECOVERY, THAT'S A PROBLEM. You can fix this by throwing in something early from a party member about how the "hurry" aspect doesn't seem to be affecting the player or party- like, BEFORE the first village.

I generally recommend this, if only because it's a very different type of RTS.

The gameplay reminds me of another game, Darwinia, though that's more traditional RTS style. Overall I would describe the game as "feeling old". This isn't a bad thing, but it runs into a couple issues that older games that hadn't figured out good UI design have. However, I did enjoy what I've played so far.

The main weakness, I think, is that it's more puzzle-like than actual RTS. I've only gotten through the first half of the game or so, but each level really only has one, maybe two ways to win, and it's usually just a slow mopup after you get past that first "wall" of challenge. I've found on multiple levels that the only way to win is to set up your expansion "farms" as much as you can, then find the "schtick" of the level and counter it. Then, 20-30 minutes of slow land reclamation.

I find the controls really clunky. I'm sure there's a way to do it but I don't know how to build a basic "node" and then hit buttons to get to a "turret" very easily. I was also incredibly confused by the different energy types, what a factory does for inputs and whatnot, why it's a special building, etc. You can figure it out but there's no tooltips on stuff with enough detail for what I want to know.

It's very satisfying to me to slowly take over the map but I don't really want to do level after level all in a row.

I'd estimate this to be about a 5-8 hour game for most people.

Very good visuals, and I liked the story enough. The story shouldn't be the main focus of the game, but I was happy with the end of it. It's well paced and the environment and details are great. There's optional lore you can try to piece together yourself, but the main character helps just enough with narration.

If I had to describe the best age group for the difficulty it'd probably be 14-18. Maybe a 10 year old could do it with a couple hints.

Would generally recommend this as a 4X game. Haven't tried multiplayer.

I think the game is a little slow to start, you can accelerate very fast but tend to hit a wall in all directions shortly after starting- all the good "money making" tools like more ships, turret systems etc, are all kind of hidden behind various requirements that are slightly frustrating to get around. Also, it's strange to cap fleet size so low early on and base it on material availability. My first game I was locked behind the tier 2 metal for a long time and I was frustrated enough to look up tutorials on money making, which unfortunately are mainly focused on end game strategy.

After you get some cash going, like 5-10 million and you get some automatic lucrative trading routes going, as well as some steady mines/stations, you can relatively be free to go on and expand at a nice pace. I like the game very much after this point.

I suppose my biggest complaint is I find building turrets, and I suppose fighters and equipment, very annoying, but it's not something I'm doing constantly. I'm disappointed by the quality of things I can just buy, and instead of doing that, you're forced into building them yourself. But the mechanic of "fly freighter around manually to get mats" is boring and I don't want to do it.

An excellent piece of work. Outshines the original in every way- the Xen portion is especially well done.

Congratulations to the mod team, this is an exceptional experience and I can tell everyone worked hard on this.
