Played alot on Battle.net, but when it came out here, they took the grind away and I lost some interest. For free you get a solid shooter game, with a decent story, and good crucible and other fun multiplayer modes, its worth it.

To start, I have 5000 hours logged on Official PvP for XBox. Not nearly the same on PC, but gameplay wise they are VERY similar. Firstly, I LOVED this game (key word, "loved".) I played the first week it game out early access, and still play to this day. Ive done it all on PvP from raiding to defending, to being the pleb of the tribe to the leader, to joining a mega alliance to one of the leaders. Enough backstory, time for the game.

Pros
Building is phenomenal, especially with the S+ Mod (or alot of mods)
Good time suck. If you want to waste time away, this is a great game.
There is so much to learn, where I still learn new things all the time, which I find fun.
The Player Dedicated Servers and Modding community is awesome
The maps visually are quite nice.
Nice, but small and sweet weapon selection.
Solid PvP combat.
Who doesn't want to ride around or soar through the skies on a friggen dinosaur.

Middle
The servers are filled with Mega Tribes and Alliances where it will take a while to find a Official server that will let you build. (thats why player dedi community is amazing.)

Cons (it will be a lot)
The developers care about there game, it will appear the opposite though. They have never been on time with an update, and there has never been a update that went through flawlessly. They have had maps come out MONTHS after there said release date. When the map Abberation came out they released a demo build and there were invisible agressive dinos killing you and DC zones where you would be in a loop of disconnecting for hours.
You have to update maps that are locked from you or you will not be able to play.
The community can be amazing if you find your spot. But 4/5ths of the community are toxic a-holes.
Official rates are a GRIND. Breeding takes days. The best PvP dino in the game takes 12 days of real time with lots of grinding (meat runs) before you can use it.
Mega Alliances run the mass amount of the Official servers, and the leaders can be paranoid pricks (take it from me, I was one.)
Unless you play on a player dedi server, it is not beginner friendly.
PvE, personally, has always had no point to me, but I also am a 3D modeler so if i wanted to design a castle, I would elsewhere, but thats imho.
Meshing is HUGE, and "unfixable". Basically people found breaks in the mesh that they can go in and shoot through and damage your structures and dinos. Rendering your hours useless cause you cannot hit them back without beating the endgame of Abberation.
Glitches and gamebreaking bugs every update.
Framerates are basically nonexistent in a decent base unless you run med or low graphics.
Not easy to be a solo player or learn on your own.
