This is a game I initially gave up on and didn't play until a year after its release. Don't make my mistake. This game has some of the tightest, most satisfying combat in any game I've yet played and it's set in a gorgeous world overflowing with rich mythology and beautiful atmosphere. The characters will endear themselves to you like nothing else, and after beating the second or third boss you won't be able to put it down until you beat it. With endless replayability and an update on the way, this is a must play for anyone, even those who aren't very good at action games. Ride out the pain, it's worth it.

It's certainly unique and the gameplay probably won't appeal to you when you first play it. Give it a chance, and please take the story as seriously as you can. I promise it's worth it by the end. This game begins feeling like it's too ambitious and ends feeling like an absolute master stroke. I cannot recommend it enough.

It's a prime example of an RPG that doesn't give a ♥♥♥♥ about padding. 25 hours of amazing, fast paced, story driven gameplay without a second wasted. Genuinely one of the most engaging games I've played.

Leaving this review to offset the old negative ones. The game has totally redeemed itself with a dev team that you can tell cares deeply about the fans and what they want for the game.

A lot of people who play this game say it's got poor graphics, bugs, some cringey dialogue and some questionable acting, and I have to agree. It's a very flawed experience. But to be honest, where every AAA game is polished to a machine-quality shine, both Life is Strange installments, Before the Storm especially, have something not a lot of big-budget games have, and that's this irresistable heart. This game manages to feel so genuine and so brilliantly emotional, that if you can look past the flaws like I do, you'll find something really, really special here. If you want to fall in love with characters, you will. If you want to cry, you will. A lot of people say this game has really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up some people's emotional states, and I can vouch for that. It ♥♥♥♥♥♥ me up. And I'd let it ♥♥♥♥ me up again and again. This game is, while heavily flawed, a masterpiece, if only for the genuine heart and passion that's in every line of code. Play before you die.

Doctor: So... what's bothering you?

Me: I think I have PTSD.

Doctor: I'm sorry to hear that, if it's alright to ask, do you have any idea what brought this on?

Me: Oh I have a perfectly good idea.

Doctor: If you're comfortable.

Me: A flower.

10/10 would suffer violent mental illness at the hands of a photoshop flower again
