one of the most impressive indie games i've played this year! i absolutely fell in love with the style, it perfectly complements the atmosphere. think `coffee talk` but set in a diner, where you actually cook, and the world is ending. the dialogue felt really natural, and there were moments that genuinely disturbed me. the only downside is that, sadly, it felt like a trailer for an even greater game. it would've been amazing if it were an hour longer, as the last few parts felt a bit rushed. in the end, a really good psychological horror narrative experience, and for the price (4.99$), it's a steal. 100% recommend! :)

i've never felt more like a detective while playing a game, even while playing games where i was literally a detective. the puzzles in this were just chef's kiss. i was absolutely entranced the whole time and wanted to use 100% of my brain (which is very rare lol)

we are the owner of a plant store. we find & identify new plants, customers describe their problems to us, and we go through our book of plants and read through it with our magnifying glass and choose the plant that suits their needs. we have a cat that we can pet to our heart's content. there is a coven, and a cult, and we choose our own ending. this is the most dark academia cozy game i've played. if all that didn't convince you to play... i don't know.

a very cute little game to start 2024 with! taught me about some really cool mushrooms - i didn't know about underwater mushrooms, that's so cool :o
it was very fun to 100%, exploration felt very rewarding, just really cute very cozy game overall >ᴗ< --- < also the way smushi makes this face when running ahhh so cute >ᴗ<

i started my adventure on launch and just now completed my first playthrough at 270 hours - there have been times where i almost got caught up in the hype, seeing all my friends beating it in a week or two, or a month if they're slow.

i also wanted to rush through the game and see everything and be able to watch the spoilery videos and read the subreddit and check fan arts and start my new playthrough, but i knew i would never be able to experience playing this game for the first time, ever again. so i took my sweet time, read every book, clicked on every crate & jug, spent 40 minutes on a casual dialogue choice that wouldn't even change anything, thinking `what would katniss everdeen respond to this?` (yes i am a roleplayer) - and ahhh i'm so glad i took my time with it. it turned this already amazing game into something so so so special to me, i completely got immersed in this world, even the random NPC's that only have 2 lines of dialogue have so much depth to them, with such sad letters you find in their house, or in their pocket, or a random letter that involves a treacherous plan from an uncle to its niece that you find laying around and then when you see those NPCS you feel like you know their life stories even though they only speak the same 2 lines.

oh especially the companions, if i feel that way about the NPCs, please imagine how i feel about my companions. it's like i know these characters since forever, and i don't even like all of them, just like irl! some of them are everything to me, some of them i find very annoying & i dislike them, but i still care for them after everything we've been through.

i have huuuuuge respect for larian studios for achieving this at this level!!! i mean i already had huge respect for them but it just went through the roof with BG3.
having already played DOS 1 & 2 (which are also on my favorite games list) i knew this game would be their best yet and bought it as soon as it released on early access, BUT EVEN THEN, I DIDN'T EXPECT THIS MUCH, THIS IS PURE MADNESS. i am soooo happy they helped so many people give a chance to this genre and see what an rpg adventure game truly is (and i hope this will stop some studios from marketing every game that has a skill tree as a rpg game already)



spoilers for act 3:
in the final fight, i decided to summon zevlor and his allies to help distract some of the enemies and i immediately regretted it. almost all of them quickly got killed by the red dragon, except a cleric, who had 8 hp left against the 400 hp dragon, and oh my god i wanted to save her so much but i just needed to get to the netherbrain and save the world, BUT AHH MY HEART IS STILL BREAKING FOR THAT MOMENT LOL. and most of the time i didn't even want to fight the enemies because i had empathy for them (definitely not for shar or bhaal worshippers etc though, nope nope nope.) like i didn't even hit a single time to the red dragon, or idk it was so hard to kill ansur... he was such a loyal friend... this game is a masterclass on helping the player connect to the characters with its writing, i mean it is a masterclass on almost everything actually. thank you for making AAA games great again (indie games are mostly great though, give them a chance if you usually don't)

also if you're new into the RPG genre with BG3, please consider also checking out `Disco Elysium`! it has no combat and it is purely written dialogue. i mean yes i am recommending it BUT it is nothing like BG3, so don't go expecting an epic fantasy game with crazy combat mechanics. they're both my favorite RPGs, and nothing even gets close to them, and i don't think anything will top them (except maybe these developers new games lol)
they're both masterpieces, but disco elysium sadly didn't get as much love, so please do yourself a favour and check it out especially if you're into storywriting! :)

it's so funny but then you're left alone and now it's super scary but actually when you think about it all, it's extremely depressing.

also, it makes me so sad to see this game only have 48 reviews. this game was made perfectly. the dialogue! the art! the story-telling! it was all top notch. give this game the love it deserves <3 sometimes i wish i was a famous gaming influencer just so i can help promote games like this.

coffee talk 2 is out and now everyday i look forward to making myself a cozy drink and playing my daily session of it, just like i did with the first game. it makes my day so much better☕🤎

Mohammad Fahmi, the creator and the writer of the first game who passed away at 32, is always in my thoughts. thank you for creating this gem.

the game is currently "playable" on steam deck, but in my opinion it deserves to be deck-verified. i've had no problems on the deck at all. the reason for "playable" status seems to be the small text, but i've also had no difficulty reading anything. it's one of those games that is better experienced handheld, curled up on the couch with a nice blanket ♡ so don't be fooled by the "playable" status, it works 100% fine and you don't have to tinker with anything.

hmm i guess i baaarely recommend it? if you are a HP fan, get it now but if you are not a die hard fan maybe wait for a little sale?

my experience with this game:
my thoughts the first few hours: omg my character sounds so bad, dialogue is horrible, graphics are very bad, the optimization is HORRIBLE (played 2 weeks after launch and it was barely playable on low settings with 20 fps when it was supposed to be 60 fps on ultra according to recommended settings game set for me), the NPC's are 1 iq and don't react to anything, the class system is disappointing (oh how i wish they made the classes / school friendships like persona... or bully...), there is a huge red screen accompanied by an alert sound to return back to my quest area when i go and try to explore a bit when i'm IN MY FIRST FEW MINUTES AT HOGWARTS... hmm well THAT IS SUCH A HORRIBLE CHOICE WHOSE IDEA WAS THAT seriously :l

thoughts after the first few hours, between 7-15h:
woooooow EXPLORING IS FUNNN, hey this is a new puzzle!!! omg what is this? whoa they even thought of this detail! hey the game is getting better and better!! wait am i really gonna explore all of this castle? inch by inch? i can't waiit!!!

thoughts after 20h:
omg. stop it already. when is this gonna end. i don't care about this story. my choices mean nothing. oh it's the same puzzle again, the one that i already did 33 times. uuugh i must be close to the ending (i wasn't even barely close), just hold on...

and it was a love & hate relationship after that point. i wanted to turn the screen off & go to sleep for a huge chunk of the game. i was totally invested and excited for another chunk of it. but the bads outweighed the goods in the end. i'm still recommending it because it's the first AAA wizarding world game and i don't regret the hours i spent on it. i am glad it's finally over, i did a fair amount of side quests because they were way better than the main story and gave me a reason to go and explore. also i couldn't be bothered to do the final quest "the house cup" because it requires level 34 and i'm only 31. maybe if they add a photo mode in the future (they probably will) i might have a reason to go back and graduate. that's all. still feels like a dream though, to be able to finish and write a review for this game after being soOooOoo hyped for years. still, they definitely nailed the atmosphere of hogwarts & the details are immaculate, so that gives me high hopes for the second game, now i can start looking forward to that

my favourite gaming moments are when i discover a new favourite and i am shocked by everything i am feeling / seeing / feeling. sayonara wild hearts is a new favourite. i love how the story is vague enough so the player can interpret it to what they're going through in their life (transgender main character, heartbreak, drug addict, and many more interpretations i'm sure)
my favourite levels were, well most of them were 10/10 honestly but i loved "begin again" and "parallel universes"
annapurna interactive never publishes a bad game, they're almost always masterpieces or if not they're clearly trying something new and i love them so much for not going out of their way with the games they publish ♡
